Well, it's not a big obstacle. Shoot in a country where they can get a lot for their money, and reductions will come. The first $100 million dollar budget movie - Terminator 2 - had lots of budget-busting sequences that were cut at the script stage. Still ended up looking great.
If George Lucas can make Star Wars prequels for $120 million that look great, a THOR movie for $150 million must be possible.

I agree, I hope Vaughn is able to reduce the budget.

actually the guy is around 6'11 maybe even slightly more......i think they should either take him or tyler mane...AKA. sabertooth....thor is basically like ajax from troy but blonde and cleaner and no beard..

Nathan Jones is 7'1 he was one of the worlds strongest men, but had to pull out due to a torn bicep, this guy can roll a car over. He is from Australia and is nick-named Mega Man because of his impressive strength. He would make an great Thor, he is young and perfect for the part. The only thing he has going against him is that he is taller than Thor is by a good 5'. but I'm sure we could all see past that small discrepancy.

Nathan Jones may be pretty strong but I wouldn't say he's one of the world's strongest men.

Who do you all think should voice Ymir? I vote for the Undertaker/Mark Calaway.

Nathan Jones won The World's Strongest Man Competition one year; that's what we're refering to. Not something generalized.

And Ymir is an Ice Giant. Who cares if a wrestler plays him? He'd be CGI, most likely.

Nathan Jones

Put a wig on him and he's good to go!

Nathan Jones is a lot stronger than a normal person, but he never won the WSM and I've never even seen him in the contest. I'm sure he has won strongest man contests around the world, just not the official one.

Why does every comic book movie discussion involve wrestlers? I know I can't expect always expect gold but wrestlers? C'mon.

Because Comic book characters supposed to have muscles and most actors are not built like a comic character would be.

I don't know how it goes when you read comics, but when I imagine the comic book characters speaking, it's not in an gravely and/or overly excited raised, awkward, and monotone voice. So it seems there is an impasse.

The problem with wrestlers is that can't act worth shit. And if they can do that, they will become perfect comic book actors.

All wrestlers are actors, with some training they can be as good as any other actor out there.

Thing is, not all wrestlers are good actors, even in the terms of wrestling acting. Most of them would need a lot of training to become decent.

wrong....they act with their physical attributes. When it comes down to acting in a plot line...they SUCK!

If the plan is to cast a normal-sized but capable actor like Kevin McKidd, it must mean they will put him in a muscle suit and scale him up, ala Vinnie Jones playing Juggernaut. Marvel can't be spending hundreds of millions on an actor without a real physique to play Thor, for Odin's sake.

Or better yet....add CGI and that would cost a pretty penny.

Which do you guys think would cost the movie the most ticket sales, fake physique or bad acting?

Someone not having a real physique will cost them.
Vinnie Jones looked pretty good in the muscle suit they made for him. If it can be done, I suppose I will take the good actor in a suit, over a musclehead with no talent.
