Beowulf was a joke! I hated that movie.

A good movie based on the source material. What most people don't know is that the poem is actually not very good, and giving Beowulf flaws was necessary. It was a polarising movie. Lots of good films are.

I don't think Josh Holloway would make a terrible Thor?

The animation wasn't convincing. It didn't matter what else they did with the story; they were trying to compete with live actors doing their roles with that animation, and it failed. CGI works at its best when it does things that aren't convincingly achieved in live action, like Jar Jar, Gollum or the Silver Surfer. A flesh-and-blood actor still beats an animated one, right now.

We won't have gotten the dragon in live-action though, but I agree. Thor should always be live-action as a cinematic release, barring the Lionsgate films.

Well the reason that the animation sucked is because it was done with motion capture. And i personally hate motion capture! As an animator, i think it's horrible

Regardless of how good gollum was done in the LOTR 😬 ..............yea whatever

As for the Thor talk for who should play him i'm pretty that they have eyed someone for the role last i heard it was Kevin Mckidd from Rome not sure if its still happaning and as for his apperance for the movie i do they go with his normal costume rather then the ultimate one.

As Matthew Vaughn is no longer on the project, if Kevin McKidd was his choice then he's probably not a candidate right now.
For the costume - who knows. Ultimate Thor's getup looks too techy; they need to go with a more mythological look. They may merge the two. I just wonder what his hammer will look like - more of a war hammer with a curved end, rather than the mallet look?

I think that the best choice out there is Mike O’Hearn.

He certainly has the look; better than most wrestlers. I suspect he lacks acting chops, though.
From the sound of the proposed plot, most of the film takes place in Asgard, with Earth(Midgard) coming late in the third act. They may follow the example of the first Superman film, with one actor playing him at a younger age, then another one playing him looking fully adult.
The good news about this firm release date of June 4 2010, is that we WILL see who they cast by the end of the year, and our curiosity will give way to questioning until the film's release.

That would be acceptable, Marvel just do the right thing a THOR movie done right could be Marvel's LOTR in waiting.

cant wait till this one comes out...making me wanna watch the old return of the hulk movie again where he battles the hulk...short battle but was friggin kewl...that and when he hits the biker bar..lol🍺

I would respectfully disagree. Thor & Hulk battles tear up whole cities and the countryside. The collateral damage in that TV movie was one window. 😛

Anyway, that fight won't happen until the Avengers movie at least.

How would they fit Thor's movie into what is currently being done withe The Avengers origins stories(which is what IronMan and Incredible Hulk were)? Those last 2 were science and military based, so it gave them a real grounded feeling. Thor is a Norse God... how would that work?

Well, I think they'll save time if Hulk doesn't get two sequels as planned.

Basically they need a Thor movie and a Captain America movie. The Avengers is slated for 2010? So that leaves this year and next year to release Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America.

Quite possible.

well they did the jason and freddy crossover....dc and marvel need to get together on a MAJOR hero crossover between the two....of course hulk or thor versus superman would be the ultimate but to start out smaller they could just do a villian crossover... like the fred vs jason etc....starting out small will get people watching and waiting ! those will set new records! I still want to see thor going to a biker bar outdrinking everyone...lol

One way to do a Thor movie is have half of the movie as an epic (a la Lord of the Rings) and then bring the other half into the present time. That way we'll get the big monster, magic, war action that the Norse Gods have to offer and then take Thor into the present time so that Tony Stark can do a cameo and offer a place on the Avengers.

You think it's hard to do a regular comic crossover, just think of how hard it would be for two movie companies to do a crossover, with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. DC wouldn't even do Batman vs. Superman; never mind a Superman vs. Thor.

Animated Direct-to-DVD? More real chance there.

Well, that's what I meant. So far, Hulk and Ironman have both taken place in real time and have been based on science and military, and have been able to do crossovers. So how would Marvel expect the audience to believe that now we have the element of the gods and magic in the "real world"? I think it will be tough to pull off.

What do you mean how will Marvel expect people to believe it?

They're Marvel.

If you're going in there, adjusting your spectacles, ready to pick what isn't and is believable out of the movie, you should go see Schindler's List instead.

I mean, they'll have 3/4 of the Avengers be a product of science/military and 1/4 be a product of a supernatural realm. Doesn't quite fit.
