Vlad Kulich is the best choice by far.. just give him some makeup.. do a lil Cgi for his body and this movie would kill. Think the so called mythological realm would be a hug e seller like LOTR but with A marvel charachter him battlin Frost Giants n such. There should be half of Thor in ASgard the him in Midgard to help push along the Avengers

Who? Have a picture of this person?

Why CGI his body? If anyone gets the role they need to do what Bale, Maguire, Routh, Reeve, and countless others did: WORK OUT.

No skinny actor is going to fill out Thor's physique without YEARS of work. He's a giant of a man. Either find the best available weightlifter/wrestler who can act, or the best actor who can look convincing in a muscle suit, or the best in-between option like Gerard Butler.

maguire's physique dissaponted in SM2 & in SM3 , he should of kept his muscles and worked out properly for teh film , i read somewhere that the film makers intentionally made him well rounded and chubby so audiences could relate and not feel bad about thier own bodies... stupidest idea i ever heard

I actually thought this same thing. Vlad would be perfect. Just need some makeup to make him look younger, but he guy definitely has the imposing figure.

Isn't he like 105 years old??? 😆 😆 😆

I hope Marvel choses wisely as to who they want as Thor.

Yeah, he's old, but I'd rather have him with some makeup on to make him look younger than Brad Pitt, who is shorter and less intimidating than Edward Norton, which is a problem when they are both going to be in The Avengers.

Brad Pitt is just a rumor. Marvel seems to want a name, but I highly doubt at this point that they will get a name to portray Thor. I guess may work. but can the guy act. Will people understand him when he speaks?

He probably won't be cast. He can act, and he's easy to understand. Just watch the 13th Warrior. He was also the Swede in Smokin' Aces.

get your facts right celestialdemon

brad pitt was in neither of those movies.

How would they fit Thor's movie into what is currently being done withe The Avengers origins stories(which is what IronMan and Incredible Hulk were)? Those last 2 were science and military based, so it gave them a real grounded feeling. Thor is a Norse God... how would that work?

Maybe they'll do it like the ultimates where they think he's just a crazyass with advanced Thor-shaped technology.

Some breaking news on our own site: Kenneth Branagh is in talks to direct now. 😱

This could be a good move. Branagh has been the actor & director most associated with filming William Shakespeare's plays these days - just look at his oscar-winning version of Henry V. He can deal with actors acting a little higher that normal - befitting Gods of Asgard - and can do a big and bombastic-type storyline.

Branagh was disappointed not to have a shot at directing a Harry Potter movie ( he co-starred in the second one.) This could be his makeup chance at a fantasy film.

I have a feeling Comic-Con is going to be pretty awesome next year.

The way he pulled out of (first)X-Men 3, then Thor, I have a feeling Matthew Vaughn is still intimidated of taking on a megabudget project & wants to stay small, like the upcoming Kick-Ass.
Kenneth Branagh isn't intimidated by such things, and likes a challenge.

Maybe Branagh can make a good movie, but I'll pass on judgment until casting starts..

Based on previous movies, about how long until casting is announced for these movies?

I'd say by the end of this year, we will know who is playing Thor. So they can start shooting early next year, to premiere in time for summer 2010.

Cool, thanks.
