I agree that the old Ronnie looked a lot better. He pushed the size shit waaaaay too much. He looked his best around 245-265

Does anyone think the problem lies with comic artists who draw 95% of characters to look like bodybuilders & fitness models?
Heroes who look in shape look cool, but it's unrealistic (outside of CGI characters like Hulk) to live up to what artists do. There isn't a man in the world who can look exactly like Thor and act a tiny bit.

No. They exist.

Of course, looking like Thor, in the face, and having the musculature would be a retardedly difficult to find, that's not really what I'm looking for. I am more or less disappointed with the "effort" put forth by the actors. Hugh Jackman, thus far, has been the best example of what can be done...but ....he was far too thin. I would have been content with him weighing 30 lbs more of nothing but muscle. Nothing retardedly huge like a bodybuilder, just much above average.

Cyclops should be in top physical condition. He is a really fit "athlete" in the comics. He is in top shape for a human. That's why he looks how he does. So why would it be too much to ask to choose and intelligent actor who is in great shape with a nice build, to be Cyclops?

To me, not having a half way decent sized Thor character for a live action film would be...shitty. It is along the same lines of "I thought he'd be taller." Why should a warrior God have the body of a 180lbs of an Urban jogging white guy?

You know, if Jay Cutler could act worth a shit, he wouldn't be too bad of a selection, either.

Well of course not, he is a mythological god.

I mean, I could do it, but I don't act.

for me jay cutler is just to blocky to be thor.lee priest is 5 foot 4 same height as wolverine just give him the wolverine side burns and hair style and claws and you have a realistic wolverine.

Jay Cutler's gut doesn't have to be seen, though, to play Thor's character. Also, we all know Cutler can't act worth a shit. He's not an actor.

True on the Lee Priest comment...but not quite. Lee would have to lose 25lbs off of his contest weight.

But Jackman did great. He...just.....needed to put on 20-30 more pounds.

yeah jackman did a good job acting and physique wise. couldnt realy see anybody els playing wolverine except hugh.brad pitt in troy had the thor hair thingy goin maybe he could of played thor with 30 or 50 more pounds added.

If Thor looked less like a champion bodybuilder & more like one of those Nordic guys we see in World's Strongest Man Competitions - big guys who got strong working on a farm - would people be disappointed?

I wonder if half of the work will be Chris Hemsworth putting some muscle on, and the other half coming from the outfit he wears - like what they did for Vinnie Jones to play Juggernaut.

I was in downtown Melbourne and saw stores that were dedicated shrines to Neighbours; mechandise, tours etc.
I'd be like us in Canada, having shrines to Beachcombers or Degrassi Junior High. 😛

Wow! I just saw a video of Beachcombers and you are exactly right on that comparison.

Farscape was inspired dude. Can't believe how much quality that show had especially when compared to most of its peers in sci-fi.

Tom Hiddleston on Loki

The Daily Mail talked to Tom Hiddleston about playing the villain, Loki. Check out these bits...

'Loki's like a comic book version of Edmund in King Lear, but nastier,' Tom observed.

How much nastier? 'Well, Loki's skilled in black magic and scorcery. He's a shape-shifter and has all sorts of super powers from the dark arts. He can turn clouds into dragons, things like that.'

Between now and January, when Thor begins shooting, Tom has to keep himself fit and healthy.

'Ken wants Loki to have a lean and hungry look, like Cassius in Julius Caesar. Physically, he can't be posing as Thor.'

this may work after all

Branagh has me feeling confident in this movie.
