Branagh said. "I shoot Thor in January of next year and because the time of release has been moved, it's allowed me to have a moment in the summer where I can shoot the Wallanders."

Well, as long as that is the true schedule. I guess Branagh didn't want to come in and be rushed on such a big project. So if everything is going according to plan - Thor, Captain America & Spider Man 4 come out in time for Marvel's 50th anniversary.
I don't blame Branagh for not being rushed.. he should take his time, hopefully have a good cast and a good story to tell

If Kenneth Branagh’s recent comments on “Thor” weren’t enough to electrify you, how about some words from Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige..?
As the president of production, Feige is bound to know a thing or two about where the comic book films are headed — and he’s proving it with some recent updates on “Thor” and “The Avengers.”
“We will probably be having cast announcements in the next month or so on ‘Thor,’” Feige told Empire Online of the hammer-wielding superhero’s upcoming movie. “We’re looking to cast Loki and Odin soon, and the main female role.”
Thor Casting is in the Final Stages
Thor director Kenneth Branagh dropped by the MTV studios and was asked about the casting of the title role."We're down to the final stages of it," Branagh said. "The reason one has to be properly diplomatic, is simply that some talented peopled have been patient, kind, creative and really committed to working with us in this process."
He added that "My reluctance to say anything about it is simply out of respect for people who have been extremely respectful of us. That said, I think we are extremely close and I hope to announce a decision sooner rather than later."
Marvel Studios is targeting a May 20, 2011 release for the film
Apparently the search is over!!

interesting, i do not know at this point
I've only seen him as George Kirk in the new Star Trek. He did alright, but wasn't amazing or anything; kind of sounded like a jock or football player when he spoke. I'm pretty skeptical about him being Thor, but whatever... All I can do is cross my fingers and hope they all do a good job. Can't wait for a trailer, even though that's a ways off.
I'm interested in this film. I would like to see Chris Hemsworth play Thor. He does bare resemblance to some comic interations.
Though, just like almost EVERY person casted for comic book to movie roles, he will utterly lack in the muscle department. Hugh Jackman did great on leaning up and packing on some muscle for his role, but it wasn't even remotely close.
Casting of Chris Hemsworth confirmed by Hollywood Reporter.

A surprise choice, but I'm comfortable with Branagh's instincts. Hemsworth is tall - 6"3 - and whatever muscle he doesn't pack on I'm sure will be made up by costume design & makeup.
Certainly looks like Thor in this profile shot.

Gotta sacrifice some things in a certain way theres no way you can get an actor to look like their comic counterpart unless of you course they go with a wrestler and of course we've seen how they turn out most of the time.........
Its pretty difficult for anyone to have the same sort of muscle tone as the comic book character they are playing. I remember off home and away ads that he was a pretty big guy. Plus I thought that they weren't going to start filming till 2010, so that gives him like 8 months to pack on the muscles.

It's hard to reach the supposed bodymass for something like this. Whoever draws whatever figure just has to crack his fingers and the guy ends up as muscular as the strongest man on real Earth 😛
Hugh Jackman and that Batman playing guy sure did show dedication. I hope this Hemsworth hits the gym as well 😛
