That would be the way it would be done if Marvel wasn't doing it on its own, without a major studio ruining it, a la' Wolverine. I have faith in the Avenger movies.

In other news, latest rumors are that Josh Hartnett will be playing Loki and Natalie Portman will be the female lead. Speculation at this point.

josh hartnett dosnt seem like a good choice for loki.

I say thee nay.

Maybe it works for someone like the Hulk, but Thor is intelligent & articulate. Acting ability has to come first; FX can embellish muscle mass.

looks like a young Brent Spiner.. now a good script should be next and then good cgi

Gary Oldman for Loki

Wesley Snipes for Odin

A decent script should be easy given the source material. They have Norse mythology to work with.

A surprise choice, but I'm comfortable with Branagh's instincts. Hemsworth is tall - 6"3 - and whatever muscle he doesn't pack on I'm sure will be made up by costume design & makeup.

Certainly looks like Thor in this profile shot.

He certainly has more than enough time. It doesn't take much. However, they only give like 3 months, usually, to prepare for their roles as they hop from movie to movie. 3 months is only enough if you already have packed on some massive amounts of muscle...and just need to diet down.

And, yes, he really does look the part. He's just....too thin.

Gotta sacrifice some things in a certain way theres no way you can get an actor to look like their comic counterpart unless of you course they go with a wrestler and of course we've seen how they turn out most of the time.........

I agree with you 100%. He seemed like a decent actor in Star Trek. I would just like to see him put on some muscle...20-40 lbs in 10 months is not unreasonable, especially for a person who doesn't eat or train like a bodybuilder...he'd grow like a bamboo plant.

Its pretty difficult for anyone to have the same sort of muscle tone as the comic book character they are playing. I remember off home and away ads that he was a pretty big guy. Plus I thought that they weren't going to start filming till 2010, so that gives him like 8 months to pack on the muscles.

I certainly don't expect comic book epic muscle proporations. Only those who compete in Professional bodybuilding in the IFBB can do that.

Look at Flex Wheeler:

That's basically what it would take to look like a comic book character. I don't expect that.

Maybe something close the what Jackman did for his Wolverine character...except 20-30 lbs more of muscle. It's not that hard. Okay, it is. It just takes effort.

It's hard to reach the supposed bodymass for something like this. Whoever draws whatever figure just has to crack his fingers and the guy ends up as muscular as the strongest man on real Earth 😛

Hugh Jackman and that Batman playing guy sure did show dedication. I hope this Hemsworth hits the gym as well 😛

Same as what I said to that dude above. I don't expect them to look like Flex Wheeler or anything. I do expect them to look better than I do, however. Does that make sense? If I had a shitload of money, and 10 months to prepare for a role in which I would need to be as big and lean as possible, you bet your britches that I would look much bigger and leaner than I do now.

thats ronnie coleman greatest bodybuilder of this era now thats an asgardian body lol.imagine arnold as thor ITS NOT A TUUMMMMOOOOOOOORRRRRR.

I dont think anyone has posted this yet, Loki has supposedly been cast and after all the rumours it isnt Josh Hartnett. It is an actor by the name of Tom Hiddleston who has worked with Branagh before. He seems like a good pick for Loki, well physically atleast.

Have a feeling that Branaugh will play Odin himself.

Are you saying the image you posted is Ronnie Coleman? Or are you saying the image I posted is Ronnie Coleman?

The one I posted was Flex Wheeler, who, IMO, looks much closer to what a comic book character would look like. Ronnie looks like what a person who has done tons of steriods, IGF-1, and HGH would look like.

Notice that Comic book characters have nice flowing lines. They don't have big bellies.

This movie is taking too long

I am cautiously optimistic.
