Yes, pure phazon itself. The beam doesn't corrupt. The beam just kills. And really the only reason it worked on Prime was because it energized the Phazon in Prime. It OVERLOADED it. Technically, I doubt the phazon beam would work on anything not already twisted by phazon.

So, we need a decided battlefield. I propose a rocky terrain, little or no technology, with plenty of large rocks and such that either could use for cover. Perhaps some lava or super-heated areas.
For the suit to be used for Samus, I propose the Fully-Powered Suit at the end of Zero Mission:
Abilities to withstand extreme heat and cold, negate the effects of liquids on mobility, the beams nested to the plasma beam (meaning all the beams (charge, wave, and plasma) are combined together), with power bombs, missiles, super missiles, and, to be fair, 7 Energy Tanks (only half the total)
EDIT: Dark, the Metroids in Zero Mission are the same as the originals. Ice Beam, and five missiles. You never faced the Pirates with the Ice beam, only with your stupid "emergency" pistol, or the plasma beam activated with the Fully-Powered Suit.
To be fair? You just signed the Chief's death warrant, with those abilities. I mean, your wholly powered suit from ZM? I've beat ZM, and I'm not so sure that's a fair match. To make it fair, just have the Chief dual-weild anything he wants. (He can easily lift cars and tanks, why not a little fuel rod cannon?)
Ditto the wave beam, because there would be no point of using rocks for cover.(Can travel through walls)

The reason the Space Pirates went down easily is because you had the PLASMA BEAM. It goes straight through walls and enemies, and is like, ten times as powerful as the regular Power beam.
Besides, It's a LOT more fun to use the Screw Attack on them. 😉
And what about the Grey Pirates? Those took alot of effort, and that with a timer counting down to less than a minute.

Hey dark wasn't it you that was telling me that I needed to check my spelling and grammer, I think you need to take your own advice. Just for the record Zero Mission was basically Super Metroid with a few extra things added into the game. As for the Phazon Beam, if I remember correctly you had to actually stand in a pool of pure Phazon to be able to use it, and it just used up what was in the pool. As for the Wave Beam going through rocks and such in Prime it couldn't go through rocks, it could only activate an electrical conduit attached to metal.

You've said that Samus can't set explosives because she lacks a right hand during missions. But what else can you call the Morph Ball Bombs and Power Bombs?
I said that. Morph ball Bombs and Power Bombs are tiny compared with what MC could lay down. As in huge explosion that would destroy about the size of a football field.
I don't think any one has mentioned MC overshield? Makes him much harder to kill and can take a rocket blast in the face.

His new over shield is more reliable and charges up quicker....
if he's wounded he'll just have to wait for his shied to recharge...

Actually Halo 1, a hit with 1 Rocket can obliterate all your shields, with the Overshield, and leave you with half-health. Samus' Technologies would ahve nothing to do with the overshield. In the end its how much force MC and Samus can Apply to each other to get past their defenses to kill each other.

Samus can keep her screw attack for the battle with MC, but if he's ever so slow that he can't dodge them, I'll slap myself. The Chief can just dodge screw attack, and stick her with a plasma grenade as she lands.
Contrary to the belief that armor makes you slower, the Mjolnir Powered Armor System is DESIGNED for Spartans. Guess what? Master Chief is a Spartan. He has quite a bit of mobility in the suit, and would be able to dodge the screw attack easily and stick them with a plasma grenade as she lands.
