I felt that the graphics are supbar for an triple A title. It's pretty much like an Bungie game.
Level design on the otherhand seems to better, but Bungie should learn some lessons from Valve, Monolith and 2k Games about showing narrative and atmosphere from the singleplayer game.
Played 1 MP game and I got 10 kills for the first time playing Halo online. Not use of the controls quite yet and I've been hitting X to reload way too many times.
Got the game, been playing it for about 4 hours.
So far, it's easily the best Halo game as far as single player goes. The level design problems that plagued the first two games are all gone it seems; very little repetition and such.
I'm playing on Heroic, and after four hours I'm on the third level. For those worried about the game length, play on Heroic. Being forced to actually try and stop and take your time with battles in order to win really makes the game more enjoyable.
As far as the graphics, they're really hit or miss. The characters and textures aren't great. However, the game has some of the best lighting I've ever seen. It's hard not to be impressed by Sierra 117 (Jungle level) and the way the light beams down through the trees.
Anyways, so far so good. Done for tonight, though.
Oh, did anyone else get the Collector's edition? Apparently there's some problem with the casing, and it's causing disks to come lose and get scratched up. Mine was lose which got me worried, but the scratches are very minor and seem to be purely aesthetic.
i got the collectors edition and its fine for me
oh and btw i finished it already, but i have had it for about 24 hours now (yeah i no i was on for ages)
its easily the bast game ever
forge rocks- its way better than i expected
the elephant on sandtrap is cool
i got a rampage today
the levels are strange but ill get used to them
flame thrower is the best
so is gravity hammer
sniper rifle shoots to slow
so does the battle rifle
in a whole HALO 3 = GREAT

I mean.. the story is better, the gameplay is better, the multiplayer is obviously better (Seeing as Bioshock doesn't even have a multi mode. Sucks. )Pretty much everything except for the graphics is better, and yes, Halo 3's graphics > Gears of War.

O well. This games release today has me as happy as a woman on her wedding day. W/e that feels like. I know it's of extreme joy.
Can't wait to pick it up during my break.

Yeah, we noticed last night that some of our limited cases were a bit noisy because the disc was loose.
If it doesn't work you should be able to get the game disc swapped for a new one.

I was initially pissed at the ending but then I coaxed myself into remembering there'd more than likely be something after the credits, and well, best ending they could've done. Glad he didn't die... we'll probably see him sometime soon 🙂

Hahaha, I knew it would happen. People mistaking initial hype and excitement for the quality of the game. You're excited, Blax, it doesn't make Halo better than Bioshock and Gears. Then again, everyone here has been hyping it so much that nobody would ever admit disappointment if there was any.
All of a sudden Halo is blowing Bioshock out of the water and has better graphics than Gears, laughable. (Fan)boys will be (Fan)boys though.

I did get caught up in some of the hype in Halo 3 and went out and bought it this morning. Its good, and I would even admit that thus far its better then the two previous Halo games simply because the level design is far superior as is a good deal of the art direction. That being said gameplay wise its identical to the previous two and is starting to feel stale IMO. And while like what Backfire said is true, the lighting is pretty damn good the graphics still completely pale in comparison to Gears and are much worse then Bioshock. Some of the texturing in this game is horrendous. As far as story and gameplay goes, it doesn't blow Gears OR Bioshock out of anything, both are superior games, especially Bioshock.
But Halo is Halo, I never thought it was anything spectacular so this game pretty much lived up to the other two. Its another generic overhyped FPS with a genaric unintresting main character, obvious and predictable Sci-Fi story like the previous installments. That said its still one of the better games on the 360 and though I have yet to really dive into the multiplayer, I'm sure its fun like Halo 2's was.

I felt the gameplay was stale and boring from the beginning of Halo 1, for the reasons you mention in the second quote.

You know I'll just go with Gamerankings, which I believe holds the average of all reviews of games. Halo recieved a: 96%; Bioshock a 95.4%, and Gears recieved a 93.8%, and yet I'm hearing someone calling a person believing Halo 3 is a better game than either one of the other two games a fanboy. Thanks, I needed yet another good laugh.
