That's how some. Again we don't know for sure.

Elites are promoted based on kill rate, what more proof do you need? I mean sure, being a good tactician played a large part most likely, but kill rate was too.

For Violent2Dope's debate with the other guy, it says so right in the manual for Halo 2, or is it Halo 1? Either way it says it, go read them.

I know Arbiter killed his way to the top of the Covenant Elite(hot)...but IMO given his rank it is much more plausible for him to be in a ship overseeing everything. If he actually went commando and did gorilla combat he deserved getting the Halo and his armada getting wiped out of existence IMO.

Edit: Did you notice the Halo around the equator line on earth? *Theories running rampant*

It is a lot more plausible and would make more sense for him to be on the ship and giving orders, but it seemed like he loved battle from Halo 2, so we can't know for sure.

Yes, I did notice that, I even got some screenies. 😄

This one has it highlighted: http://s201.photobucket.com/albums/aa234/Celtra7/?action=view&current=Capture.jpg

I would like actual proof. For all we know the Arbiter could have served 90% of his career on a ship, perhaps pulling off some brilliant tactical maneuver. His past si completely unknown to us. And again there is still actually no reason to believe that you'd need 1000+ kills to gain his rank.

Taken exactly from the Halo 2 manual:

"Armor color seems to indicate rank, and we believe Elites are promoted based on numbers of casualties they inflict."

So it is not like if say there was a minor Elite (blue in color) and they kill on human and they become a Zealot (Gold), no, they would have to kill LOTS.

First off, it says Humans believe they do, second, that still doesn't rule out that he couldn't have been promoted for one single event of ingenuity, third, for all we know he could have simply done something to please the Prophets, who in turn granted him that rank. BJ's etc. You can say over and over that he had to have done this or that but it still doesn't change the fact that we have no clue on what his past is. The only thing we know is that he got publicly humiliated because of the Chief, and gained the death sentence in the form of being Arbiter.

True, we have no way of knowing his past, but mine and General G's theory of how he was promoted are most likely.

And Elites are a proud race, I highly doubt they would accept nothing less than the best of themselves and only accept a rank if they deserved it.

What are you talking about? Even in the books the main character Elites only cared about getting promoted, in any way they can. All Elite's want to get promoted and will do it by any means, and none of them will turn one down if given the chance.

The main character Elites in the books are not the Arbiter, he is beastly in combat, he was sent on suicide missions and look who is still alive...the Arbiter. And either way, I have read all the books out, where does it say that?

If that's true the books contradict the games.

The books DO contradict the games, which is why I hate them with a passion. They make Master Chief look like a god and make everyone else look like idiots. But, Lana says that they can be used in debates because they are published by Bungie, despite how I hate them.

I really do hate the books, one that really sticks out in my mind is "The Flood" damn that was annoying as hell, everything in it!

The books are gay. I read things about them, and apparently they make MC out as an invincible God, and he's only "average" for a Spartan.

And then they make the Covenant little pussie pieces of crap. And the marines, they are just godly too!

Yeah, most of 'em. Though the Marine's DO tend to live longer then the Elite's do in the games...

See, that's all bullshit. It contradicts the games.

I was talking about in the games 😛

Not in my games, even if I run out and draw all the fire to me and kill everything, somehow...someway, my marines find a way to die, whether it is from a grunt right in front of them and they can't just can't aim or from a stray grenade that they don't know how to jump from.

I have much more luck with the Elites, who I can get to last the whole level, or close to it.

Needlers= Death for my Marines. Always. Especially in the first game.
