???? You guys are willing to punch holes in everything related to PSP aren't you? Give it a chance. The Ipod is popular. PSP is looking to be the same.

honestly from all those complaints from the japanese about the system failures and how easily it breaks.. they obviously need to re-adjust some architectual issues.. once that happens it might be aiight.. I'll let other people risk on PsP befor I think about it.. I really like DS's stylus capability

Draco, it can be said the other way around. People diss the DS and any related Nintendo hardware without even trying it.
I personally wouldnt buy a products thats poorly design for $300. The American version will probably be fixed, but it has been stated that the PSP is faulty.

I don't diss the DS. I like it and I have tried it. Not my thing. Too big. Not very attractive. So-so launch games. And the stylus usage is ridiculous. I don't like looking at TWO screens when I'm being assaulted by aliens one screen and I need to find the special thingamjigg on the second screen. And Nintendo has many faults. They need to stop living in the past and get with the program. With Star Fox 2 and Zelda they're beginning to see the light.

All products have faults when they first come out. This is Sony's first venture into the handheld world. They are entitled to a few slip-ups. The PSP is likely to be very popular. Millions have already pre-ordered it. It's going to be a success whether you like it or not.

And it cost $250. A reasonable price with all the extras included.

And after the price was announce lots of the pre orders were cancelled.

Source? Um, hello? When you make a pre-order you pay a set amount the item is already worth. The 6th Harry Potter Book is pre-ordered for $17.99. And yet millions are already pre-ordering it despite the price being higher then it would be in stores. The PSP was pre-ordered for $300 to $500. Some people may have cancelled the pre-order because obviously it would be wiser to wait until it comes out for only $250. It's not because they don't want it. It's because it would be financially wise to wait.

Draco, I didnt mean you personally, I might people. If you dont like the DS for the reasons that you stated, thats perfect reasonable.
Nintendo's products dont have defects when they come out. They never had. And if you think that its okay for a product that costs $250 to have defects when released, then you must be brainwashed. And they're not minor defects, they're huge. The goddamn UMD disc shoots out the back of then, and the square button works sometimes and they wont change it beacuse it was a design flaw. I think when a huge company like Sony, they should get the product to work correctly.
Draco, you say that PSP has been preordered by MILLIONS. And then why somebody goes against that, you say where is your source. Well you made a statement, where is your source then?
And finally, I live in Canada, so I'll be paying $300 for it.

When u pre order Psp u dont need to put alot of money down at where i pre order all i needed was 20 bucks and thats it and the PSp are not pre order for 300 - 500 unless ur talking about the starter kit.

no .. when you preorder (a video game) you put a set amount of money down, and then pay the rest later.. you 'choose' whether you wish to pay the full amount or not.. it is not a requirement.. the usual is either 5 or 10 dollars down...

i want a PSP

Also, when you preorder it and you pay the full amount, you dont pay more. You also use Harry Potter 6 for an example, and if you read it, you would see that the list price for the book is 29.99, with a discount of 17.99.

All products do not have faults when they come out. Nintendo consoles don't have problems when they come out. You know why? Because after Nintendo finishes the first working design of a console, they test it. And when they test it, they find design flaws and technological flaws. And guess what? They fix those flaws, and try another design. They don't release something to the public until they are 100% sure it won't cause problems right out of the box.

"They are entitled to a few slip-ups." You know, I'd almost agree with you, except for one thing. Are they still entitled to the slip-up when they built it in? On purpose? And then praise themselves for their "genius" design afterwards?

And sure it's popular. But arcades used to be popular too. How many arcades do you walk past now that are over their safe person capacity with happy people?

And yes, it probably will be a success. From a business standpoint. Thousands of people will likely buy the thing. And it's a lot easier to either put up with it or just throw the thing away than to demand money back for a flawed system.

I used to think the PSP might be a good system. But that was back when I expected better from a big, usually successful company like Sony.

GP I think gives BS reviews.

normally their pretty biased to sony. they always give nintendo shit.

nintendo consoles are very well tested. I'm dissapointed with the most of the launch titles, since only mario and feel the magic are the only good ones, and I wish the DS was one centimeter horizontally smaller. they should have made it barely bigger than a GBA. nothing really noticable. but when you cram in 2 screens, and 1 is a touch screen...along with all sorts of goodies, space does become an issue.....and they had to add the 2nd game cartridge slot in....

i would have waited to buy the ds but since it was the holidays.I just got one for X mas.

DS is selling well, but not as much as people expected, but in time, it well sell well. Look at the original and the GBA. They sold gazillion's during their tenure, so I personally cant see DS not doing the same thing. It also hurts that the DS is compatible with GBA games and that it was released with a demo and PictoChat game.

once the DS goes down to 100 bucks they'll see like ice cream in the summer time.
