yeah but at least the movies completed their story.🙁

hope they will decide to make it
KotOR and TSL are my favorite games (still KotOR has a great story, i like TSL better) and if the third will be out, surely it will surpass them both (if it will be developed by BioWare maybe will win the Game of the Year award)
anyway if they're going to make it i want the best story ever and a great engine
i don't know if i still want the turn-based system but i like it anyway
until i hear about something official i'm going to finish another time KotOR II, then KotOR I, etc. 🙂
PS: i'm going to play KotOR II first because i just completed the first

That's because they had a story to close. KOTOR became aimless. They had no plan of where to go.

anyway the collaboration started with BioWare must say something
first it will be surely a game, not a game engine or something else
bioware is an expert making rpgs so it will be an rpg or mmorpg
if they wanted to make a RTS or action they would contact other developer experienced in that type of game
so all that remains to be decided is the era: old republic, rise of the empire, new jedi order, legacy... and if it will be single-player or mmo
hope for an rpg

you dont know that...

...it wasnt shut down because they had no where to go...they shut it down because lucasarts had financial problems...it was that project that had to be shut down because all their other project were fully into developments and kotor3 was only in pre development

plus how can they not have a plan where to go...kotor1+2 has virtually given us the storyline for kotor3...it has too much potential to go to waste. I have every confidence that the lucasarts/bioware project is kotor3

Bioware never intended a single sequil. Obsidion took over, and had a plan, but they screwed it up. when they put out the game with a half-assed story.

(Still trying to figure out how the exile got the hawk back from the chasm, and how Mira ended up on Malacore... guess we'll never know. 🙁)

I don't, infact, I find it highly unlikely unless someone other than The Drew is going to write it. Since he's focused on Mass Effect's story right now.

I've just sent an e-mail to bioware but i don't know if they will reply... hope so

lmao good luck with that.

I will be suprised if they reply... no, I take that back, I will be ASTONISHED.

you must never forget Drew's most recent blog entry:

From "The Drew's" blog
Wow - I can't believe how much time has gone by since my last post.

Since then I've finished off Mass Effect: Ascension, the sequel novel to Mass Effect: Revelation (released summer of 2008), and I've taken a much needed vacation to the island of St. Lucia (highly recommended - check out a restaurant in Rodney Bay called "The Edge"😉.

I returned to find Revelation, the latest Legacy of the Force novel - not to be confused with the Mass Effect novel I wrote - had debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. (Congrats to Karen Traviss on that.)

And, finally, I've seen a storm of rumors and speculation sweep across the internet.

This isn't much of a surprise: the web is a breeding ground for misinformation and half-truths. But I figured I'd come and give everyone an udate about what's going on with me, and try to clear up some confusion about some upcoming projects - both my own, and BioWare's. I figure the easiest way to do this is a short little Q&A, based on the e-mails that have been coming into my website.

Q: What are you working on now?
A: Glad you asked! On the video game front, I'm the lead writer for Mass Effect 2, and BioWare is already churning hard on the sequel to our award winning game. On the novel front, I'm eagerly awaiting the spring/summer release of Rule of Two in paperback and Mass Effect: Ascension. I'm also trying to finish up my own original fantasy novel so I can send it out to some agents and publishers.

Q: Any plans for another Bane novel?
A: I'd love to do a third Bane novel. However, there are no official plans yet. Ultimately that decision is made by Lucas and Random House/Del Rey, based on their publishing schedule. From the sales of the first two novels I'm pretty confident they'll want to do another, but for now I just have to cross my fingers and wait.

Q: What about writing other types of Star Wars novels?
A: It's something I'd be interested in, but as of today there are still no official plans in place. If anything changes, I'll post updates on the NEWS section of my website.

Q: What about all these KOTOR 3 rumors I've been hearing?
A: Rumors are just that - rumors. Don't believe everything you read on the net.

Q: But I heard Lucas and BioWare had signed some kind of deal...
A: Yep, they did. But no details are released yet.

Q: Come on, it's got to be KOTOR 3 right?
A: I can't comment. Just let it go. You'll find out the details in due time. You'll just have to wait.

Q: Okay, fine. What about conventions and book signings? Anything planned?
A: Nothing specific. I want to try and get out to do some signings this summer; I'm hoping Del Rey will send me on a book tour to promote the paperback for Rule of Two and the release of Mass Effect: Ascension. (Hint, hint!) But nothing's on the table yet. As soon as I hear anything, I'll post it on my website and here on my blog.

Q: Seems like you're not really telling us anything.
A: Yeah, well... sometimes life is like that.

Q: I bet you don't even know anything about the BioWare and Lucas Arts deal!
A: I know a bit. But I can't talk about it.

Q: So what are you working on at BioWare right now?
A: Like I mentioned before, I'm the lead writer for Mass Effect 2.

Q: So is somebody else doing the Star Wars project?
A: I never said BioWare was doing another Star Wars project.

Q: Whatever. BioWare + Lucas Arts = Star Wars. We all know that.
A: Lucas has a bunch of other stuff in the pipes, too. The new Indy movie is coming out... look, I really can't say anything about unreleased projects.

Q: I heard Electronic Arts showed a slide at a shareholder's meeting that said BioWare was working on a new KOTOR.
A: That slide was a reference to our work on the original KOTOR. The purpose was to show shareholder's the kind of potential BioWare brings to the table, since we're now part of EA.

Q: But I saw on all these gaming websites that KOTOR 3 was in the works!
A: You shouldn't believe speculation and rumors. Seriously, just let this go. I will not comment on unreleased projects!

Q: Okay, okay. One last question. I heard about this BioWare MMORPG...
A: What about it?

Q: Is it Star Wars?
A: This interview's over!

Just incase you all want to keep up with what he's doing as well.

Mixed in with all that, I also got a chance to go down to Austin for a few days. While I was down there I got in some golf and I touched base with the folks at BioWare South. They’re working on some interesting stuff down there… but of course, I can’t talk about it, so don’t ask.

Some day we'll find out.

Well, based on some of the answers right there, I'm getting hopeful.

well, to send a reply and tell me if they're going to make a 3rd game because i'm so anxious:-??
and i promised that if they want it to be kept secret i will not tell anything 😄
i knew they would not say anything but i've tried my chances 😱

Here's a part of a recent Interview with The Drew I came across moments ago:

We know that you are currently working on Mass Effect 2, but our readers would be quite disappointed, if we did not ask you this one question - is there currently any work underway concerning KOTOR 3?

Sorry, but all my time right now is focused on Mass Effect 2. As far as I know, there are no plans in the work for KOTOR 3.

Here's a link to the entire interview:

Yeah I do know that, it's absolutely bleeding obvious from the game.

It was a mistake to make it directly connected in continuity, in all honesty. KOTOR's plot worked fine as a stand alone, and there is a heck of a lot of the galaxy and history to set an entirely different story in.

There was no overall idea of where KOTOR 2 was going, no plan for the sequel before 2 was done. They were improvising ad they went along. The Star Wars films were different- there was a base plan for the whole story in there right from the start.

No, in an interview before kotor 2 came out, they sais that they were looking forward to doing several KOTOR games. The game itself was the victim of poor writing and several budget cuts. They set up for the possibility of Kotor 3 at the end of KOTOR 2 (well, the lightside ending did atleast) when the exile flew into the golden nebula, where it is believed that Revan is.

If they don't make a Kotor 3 the series would have been beter off as a single game, but I believe that BioWare could fix the series if they ever get the chance.

And that is exactly why i want more. I want to know what happens next. i want to know what happened in kotor 2 even though i beat it 3 times i still don't know what happened

That's because they had a story to close. KOTOR became aimless. They had no plan of where to go.

This is exactly why i hate kotor 2 it basically killed the overall story; remember when I said I felt like nobody cared not just because of 4 years with out a sequel
but also because kotor 2 was massive failure. In my mind they really could of done better at that game even if they had a short time to do it they could of just made the game shorter and focus on it making sense instead rather than hours apon hours of dialog. And focus on the game playing smother than kotor 1 and fixing graphics rather that writing useless lines about how dark and ruined everybody life is after the madalorian wars.

ether way I want to know what happens next

They had a limited amount of time, poor writers, and major budget cuts. Kotor 2 was a victim of all these things, and along with it was Kotor 3. They had concept art, a basic story, and several other things for Kotor 3 but it ended up being cancled becausl the money could have been put to beter use else where.

Proof ot this is when Nactous found and posted some of the concept art awhile back. It was accused of being KOTOR 2 concept art because it said 2004 on some of the pictures. Well, guess what: KOTOR 2 came out in 2004 why would they make concept art for a game which was either (1) about to come out or (2) allready out?

Alright so I took a look at this concept art, and i noticed a certain James Zhang who is he and does he have any thing to do with the kotOR series. Also there was a date july 11 2004(what was the date of the layoffs?).one last thing on that concept art did u notice how detailed some of those more computer generated ones where, whats up with that?

Drew on the other hand seems pretty sick of all the kotor 3 speculation do we know if he even would want to do it?

anybody got any answers????

The fact that they were thinking about making several games has absolutley no bearing on my commentary about the plotline at all. So that being the case, just read my post again.
