Ive had my say on the matter, you can bash me all you want on how my opinion doesn't matter to you(Just like yours doesn't matter to me), but to be honest, I don't really give a crap. I find it funny that you're getting so worked up over a difference in views and opinions of a computer/console game and how it borrows(Or, in your case, steals) from it's predecessor, but whatever.
That's good, too bad I don't really care and didn't ask.
Anyway, back to the topic, I can safely assume, there will not be a Kotor3, atleast not any time soon. Maybe after Clone Wars, the Live-Action TV Series and TFU, but certainly not now.
Though assuming it is, hopefully they'll incorporate the newer engines into it and not keep up with the crappy engine they have Kotor 1 and 2 on.
But for now, off to lunch...
I am so glad you two stopped your bickering. I would have expected more from a moderator then arguing on his forum. Kotor 3 will not happen. I want it to happen as much as everybody else on this thread (except Ush, I guess) but I've gotten over and I think it should just be time the rest of the world should too.
Now it's time for me to talk. Kotor 2 would have been better given more time no matter what ANYBODY says. I think they had a year and a half to make the game. That isn't enough time for anything. Hell, I'm making a game for this club I'm in in school and we've had since September. We only just started making the game and hardly even have the storyline (which will be copying every dungeon-crawler ever). But on top of that, Obsidian, as I recall, also had layoffs. So with less men and very tight time constraints it was hard to come off with any astounding. Writing the story should take precedence over most of the process or you have a sh*tty game but I bet being cut down as much as they were, it was done in no time at all. The writing team rushed through the fundamentals, borrowing as much from K1 as possible so they could get the game done. They have the same mind set as I would, which is, if it's not broken, why fix it. They simply didn't have the resources for a project like this so made it the best they could with what they could.
Do with this or argue with this what you will but this is ALL my opinion backed up by what I recall to be facts. And if they aren't facts, then it's just my opinion and I don't really care if you want to dispute it.

It doesn't matter what excuses you give. It was, at BASE a shoddy product. Say "no matter what anyone says" all you like, it will not change any of the fundamental reasons why it was inferior- it was an unimaginative repeat of the original. Delude yourself otherwise all you like, and hang on to this lie that more time would hgave made it the greatest thing ever- but it's all just nonsense.

Kinslayer, If they had as many lay-offs as you say, they shouldn't have even tried to undertake such a large project. It's just idiotic and guaranteed to fail, they should have done something smaller, and built themselves up to doing something as vast as Kotor 2.
Kotor 3 will happen eventually, EVERYTHING happens eventually. People run out of Ideas and they go back to something tried-and-true. It's wanted badly enough that someone will eventually go back to it, whether it be Obsidion, or Bioware, or some other company buys the rights to it, I'm almost positive that it will happen again.
LucasArts did the same thing when they released Jedi Academy. It was nothing but the exact same game as Jedi Knight. As far as time and money spent making that game, it had to be a FRACTION of the first game, because all they did was write another story, and include different levels. You could even still spawn all the old characters onto the screen, that's how exactly the same it was. I was really disappointed with JA. And they never made another one. Then they tried the same thing with KOTOR 2, think they will change their approach with any new games?
If you can get past the whole fanboy attitude, its what the did with Halo also. They were all the same dam game. Nothing really new (besides the brutes, but they suck) came from the game. They had different levels and some new guns but all in all it was the same game. As any sequel, it was upgraded but only in the most basic ways possible. And let's face it. The stories in Halo 2 and 3 blew. Halo 1 was really the only one worth playing.
The story is what is important (Which Halo 2 and 3 only added to. Ofcourse I read the books which adds to the story as well, and answers questions that the games answered but didn't come directly out and say "This is how it happened"😉
And of course the basics are going to remain the same, why change them if they work, Obsidian just used the method that makes the most sence. Keep the same methods of gameplay, the same general look, etc. It worked before, why not now? The only thing that killed Kotor 2 was it's story.
This is gay guys. I mean c'mon its been like 4 years this is really retarded and the sad thing is i don't think i am going to stop wanting it... ever. not to mention how gay it is to have a cliff hanger ending AND NO SEQUAL!
I feel like none of the game makers care about it not even our efforts to spam lucas arts did anything. ^

Yeah, we had to wait 16 years, but the prequels turned out to be godawful, and we hope KOTOR III will be better. Plus you always have trilogies in SW, and we're waiting for the "final installment" of one, rather than starting a new (and in the end, utterly horrid) trilogy.
And frankly, I hope that Bioware will come back and make KOTOR III, if there is one. Obsidian did a crap job on TSL.
And all GL cares about nowadays is pounding the Clone Wars into the ground over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
That's what he gets for keeping us wondering about them since '77 and delivering about 1/3 of a movie's worth of actual war. Apparently wooden love stories, forced acting, unnecessary plot devices, and bacterial super-powers make for a brilliant piece of work. Bah.
I can't blame Obsidian entirely, they were rushed into a Christmas release. Barely a year between the games doesn't leave much room for plot development. That said, if they do produce a #3, it had better blow even the first away after this long with hardly a scrap of news.
