The scene looks bad when in motion. his jump looks very cartoony.
Something that came up when I was discussug this with peolpe at MF: (well more like I gave my opinion then they bashed me)
If they didn't use CG in these movies and instead used traditional methods to create special effects would the technology simply not advance?
I mean, think about it: this technology has years to go before they will be able to create something photorealistic. But if they didn't go through this stage of mediocre CG the technology wouldn't advance and we'd be stuck with either traditional FX (models etc... ) or bad CG.
And I'm not saying it's neccessarily a bad thing to be stuck with models, but there is so much more freedom with CG.
The point that was brought up was that VFX companies wouldn't have enough money to both provide FX for movies in the traditional way and also develop this technology in the background so that one day when it is perfected they can use it.
Now, I'm not saying this excuses the films' bad FX... it's just a good point and interesting way to look at it... and something to think about.

what's the difference you can't tell the difference between the 2 and if anyone says different, they are way to nitpicky. and have too much time on their hands, or they are lined up for the past 2 months at the wrong theater waiting for tickets to a movie that anyone can go and buy the day they go on sale.
Wrong Darth Maul. Maybe you can't tell the difference, but that also tells me quite bit about how you judge the movies. We don't have too much time on our hands, we don't go frame by frame, and we are not extreme fans, we can simply see the difference. Don't try to tell us that there is no difference and to think otherwise, that we are simply "nitpicky". I would also like to ask your age as for future reference with people's opinions vs their ages.
And Dodo those actually are good points, if only the Star Wars movies had been made when the technology had finally gotten photo realistic and not the stuck in the middle age of fx. Oh well...
Even though it's a still shot you can see the quality has definitely improved a lot.
I just don't like the lighting on this shot... it makes his skin look, not exactly fake, but just not much like skin. The right side of his face is good though.
They've really got the cloth down now... though seeing it in motion will be the real test.
