In 1999 Phantom Menace lost to the Matrix and in 2002 Attack of the Clones lost to The Two Towers. Something tells me they'll give it to War of the Worlds. That's Lucas' big competition this year.

The two star wars movies did not win due to the acting and not being one of the best firms ever made. The old ones won alot of awards because it is in fact the best GL ever made in his whole star wars history.
I doubt it at al if the last star wars will get an award inleast it is better then both the first and second star wars movie.JM 🙁

I will say that everything we have seen so far has given me high hopes of Oscarage...

The scene when Anakin reaches up and grabs Dooku's saber out of the air...huge improvements over previous films.

I think we'll see quite a bit of improvments...especially judging from that footage we saw from C3.

I don't want this thread to die! I would like to see it staying alive until next year's Oscars.

I REALLY WISH SOME PEOPLE WOULD STAR POSTING HERE AGAIN.

I REALLY WISH SOME PEOPLE WOULD START POSTING HERE AGAIN.

Um....I don't have a lot more to say...

hmm.. there's really little left for me to say... at least until peolpe start to show up who I can debate with... 😄

Will Revenge of the Sith win Oscars for best special effects?

No, probably not.

I think it can win but I think it will definetly need to do better then Episode 1 and 2 visually to pull off a win

well..who are they up against??...they'd be up against war of teh worlds....and thats got speilberg...so who else?

Star-wars ain't really a movie that's took serious ya know
Niether is the incredibles yet they won best animation feture

If they don't win then would they get any nomination?

Yeah, They have to be nominated to win.

I think ROTS will win one for special effects since this movie has the most cgi in any movie ever. So keep your fingures crossed. If it is as good ppl say it is then it should when best film but everyone knows that the oscars are rigged they never put the good movies up for best picture, Like spiderman was top in the box office for awhile and all it was nominated for was cgi and lost. I mean they always get the movies that only adults appeal to and some movies that are chick flicks.

u have grevious, most likely the beginning of the DStar, and and the battles in space i think war of worlds will come close but Star wars will win (i hope) 😄

The new TRL footage of the Kashyyyk sequence is mind-boggling, specifically the shot with all the Wookiees shaking their weapons in the air (which is stone-age old, I know). It seamlessly blends live-action Wookiees in costume with digital ones.

PM had 3 nomination for sound, sound effects editing and visual effects and won nothing. But I don't know why AOTC wasn't nominated. I mean the special effects were mind blowing. Perhaps ROTS will change all that.

The SPFX were NOT mind blowing in AOTC....please revisit the rest of this thread for the discussion.

Yeah there really wasnt much in terms of grear FX in AOTC except the Yoda fight. Everything else was simply backgrounds and unimportant characters.

The effects in AOTC were well done. See my conversations with hunchy and Devi| D0do starting page nine.

Bullet Time is NOT Time-Slice, or Frozen moment. Time-Slice involves splicing together frames which were captured simultaneously from a bunch of camera angles to create a video of movement through or around a scene while time stands still. Bullet Time splices together frames which were captured sequentially through time and space to give the illusion of moving through space while time unfolds slowly, or quickly, or anywhere in between, including backwards and forwards.

Gee, how do I know all this?
