Smoke

I breathe in the smoke,
The noxious fumes filling my nostrils,
With a rank, despicable odour,
Making my lungs burn,
And coughing, I try to expel,
The horrid smoke from my lungs,
As I cough so hard that I,
Feel dizzy, the world starts to spin,
I cannot breathe,
I need air,
I have to get out of here.
So I leave the area,
Hurrying away from the music,
The good time, the laughter,
All the fun I could have,
So that I can breathe clean air.
Sort of ruins the day, doesn’t it?

Coldfire, I just read the first of your poems in this thread, 'Sinking' and 'Betrayal' and I will read the rest when I get the chance. I haven't actually posted here and I feel like I've been quite rude 🥷

Anyway, I really love your re-write of 'Sinking', including the metaphors... they are fantastic. It takes powerful imagination to think of even a few different metaphorical references and you've filled that piece excellently... I was really moved. You're very talented 😉

Snehin, you could perhaps read some of Coldfire's pieces and make your own comments. If her work doesn't move you, then don't comment. It's simple.
