Asians: The Most Stereotyped Race on Earth?

Started by LordFear11 pages

Well Draco things might change.
I mean years ago Blacks were typecasted as well.
Now along with the time, things have changed.
This is a change that will not come overnight, but as more Asians flood the American movie market, a higher demand will be made.
That's just the bottom line.
To use that as armament in your argument about stereotyped Asians is not really fair because the market for Asians in America is very young and underdeveloped.

It might. But very little progress has been made. People KNOW its politically incorrect and yet its just waved off without any thoughts to the consequences.

Test your hidden racial biases

look draco...

as far as movies go... i am not going to sit here and claim that movie producers are completel;y objective, they're not (thats why julia roberts still has a job), they go by public demand, eventually some young asian heartthrob is gonna come along and you wont be able to open a magazine without seeing his face...

hollywwod is flimsy...

as for cultural differences, i dont live in america so i cant comment, but in ireland over the last ten years there has been a massive influx of asian (and african) immigrants to ireland be it to work, study or whatever.

The asian communiuty is as much a part of ireland as alcohol. They are treated as equals by all but a small group of bigots and idiots.

i am actually dating an asian woman, and too be honest, ingratiating myself into her culture is going to be ten times harder than she had it becoming part of mine. i don't see asian culture being that adversely affected by western cultures.

That's very nice. However the societal differences between Ireland and America are very different. There's really no use to implementing Ireland to America. Completely different ballgame.

Sounds nice though. Is the drinking age in Ireland really only 15? Lucky son of ...

Let's take a step back.

I have friends of many races, I have idols and inspirations of many races, but let me say this.

There are good and bad african-american, caucasian-american, latin-american and asian-american actors/actresses.

However, if you look at all the asian actors male or female, none of them are stellar. None of them are amazing, none of them are at Morgan Freeman levels of acting. At least not any I've seen.

There are asian olympic champions, martial arts champions, world record holders. So....

Anybody wonder that they might not have gotten better roles just because they aren't that good at acting as a whole yet? In Western society portrayals anyway.

i'm not...

they were good in their respective roles imo...

no morgan freeman's but entertaining nonetheless...

Yeah. Good.

Nothing amazing, which is why they get roles that are nothing amazing.

Or Asian Americans cannot succeed in the acting world regardless because of the limited roles they can play.

That's another stereotype we have here: Asians are bad actors. They can't act.

I never said they can't act, I love Eastern film. They just can't, FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN, play amazing roles in Western portrayals.

They play limited roles because that's what is said from their ability. I'm sure when an Asian actor/actress comes along that could have played a Morgan Freeman role, he'll/she'll get the part.

Asain , and Mexican are the most stereotyped people on earth!

They are great actors from all races. In India there is a great actor who was the king of the film industry there for 18 years. He also has a large audience outside india.

Mostly every race is breaking out of their stereotypes. Except Republicans. Those bastards jut love to perpetuate the same old loudmouthed lying, corruption, and racism they have for the past 40 years.

Except Republicans aren't a race.

Y'see, this makes you a troll. We're trying to have a discussion and you say something like that which makes it damn near irresistable for me not to rip into you.

By the way, for people who are freaking out about

Most of the time any stereotype is true.

Well...he has a point. How do you think stereotypes originated? I can honestly say that every single black person at my school fits the Black stereotype. Stereotypes are a case of overgeneralization; it does not mean they aren't accurate at times.
