People, I wasn't the one that called him a Nazi. It was a joke. I know very well that most kids in Germany were in the Hitler Youth. I watch too much of the History Channel not to.

Isnt this new pope about 70 something? He wont make it past 2020

Why should the Catholic Church change it's beliefs just because the world doesn't believe the same way? I am not Catholic, but I am glad that they are not giving into pressure to change their beliefs because a group of people want the institution to change. The Church will not change it's beliefs on abortion, homosexuality or women in the priesthood. So give up on those three. The church may change on contraception and priest's being married. The Catholic Church must remain true to the teachings of the Bible as a moral compass for the rest of the world.

Moral? Ha! schmoll

eyes

I think that would pretty much finish him off eyes

And about the whole scandal with the clergy and young boys, you can't blaim anyone ever involved in the church because of a few sad peoples' mistakes. I support the church, because my parish wasn't involved in those cases in any way, so why should I harbour ill feelings to all those innocent priests and clergymen out there who just serve God and have to work so much harder because of all the bad publicity out there?

That's bullshit because how do you know what's right if you've never been told? 😕
Babies don't have a moral compass that points them in the right direction, they have to be taught it.

All hail Emperor Pope.

I know that discrimination against women is wrong. Regardless of what the pope tells me.
I know that discrimination against homosexuals is wrong. Regardless of what the bible tells me.

I'm a moral person because I treat everyone equally, I dont unfairly judge others or persecute them like the 3 major religions tell me to.

I have a conscience and have independently educated myself as to what is right and what is wrong. Regardless of what I was told as a baby.

My current moral beliefs are a stark difference from what I was taught as a child and what my parents believe and preach today.

And unless Canadian babies are mutant freaks, as may well be the case 😛, babies dont have moral beliefs. schmoll

That's because of the world you grew up in though, how can we even now say we are doing what is right? And why do you know discrimination against women is wrong? Because of what you were taught 😛

You know what's right by deciding for yourself regardless of what you're told, that's how.

Everything you've learned is just that, learned. Not necessarily true.

do we really really care about the new pope... he looked pompus on MSNBC... 😮 sorry but he did

What if you grow up in an abusive home?
Would you still decide it's wrong to mistreat women if those were the only examples you grew up with?

No because you don't know better.

LoL..

😕

"you can't blaim anyone ever involved in the church because of a few sad peoples' mistakes."

I don't blame them all, but given the implications that there were pastors secretly moved from one parrish to another, victims paid off to avoid a public scandal. As I said earlier, I spent MY ENTIRE LIFE in teh catholic church and school system, and have met a huge number of wonderful, compassionate and honourable people who would condemn this in any case. But, despite that, no one is saying that the church needs to act in one way or another. That makes them hypocrits, given teh lifestyle they've chosen.

"I support the church, because my parish wasn't involved in those cases in any way"

In anyway that you know. Maybe that beloved priest that announced there was another parrish where he could better serve god was really a cover for "I touched a little boys pee pee and now I'm being swept under the rug"

"clergymen out there who just serve God and have to work so much harder because of all the bad publicity out there?"

Hey, god doesn't give you more than you can handle. Isn't that what they say when the shit hits the fan?

No because you don't know better.

"Evil is not a destiny, it is a decision. Most abused children do not grow up to be abusers and most of those who DO abuse themselves rather than others. If we excuse the predator because he or she was abused as a child we are degrading the heroism of those who were similarly abused yet refused (remember it is a choice) to imitate their oppressors."-Andrew Vachss.

So if you grow up in an abusive home you're automatically of the mentality that battery of spouse or women is good? You honestly believe that? I think we both know that isn't true.

I, at 19, have many different views to my parents and others who played a pivotal role in raising me, very different. Why? Because I learned those things, then I learned more and kept learning.

You don't "know" what's right and wrong because of what you're TOLD, forever. Anyone who believes right and wrong is the same as they were brought up to believe and haven't made any kind of independent conclusion or decision, they're an idiot.
