Official Doctor Who Thread

Just got around to watching this years Xmas special, not bad but the that cyberking was a little on the O.T.T for my taste. Nice touch to see the vintage Doctors.

Well, that is how Christmas episodes tend to be.

What made me laugh when you saw the vintage Doctors my mate said…."Who the heck are those hippies?”

I put his comment down to eating to many mince pies as a few hours later he worked it out, lol.

Dose anyone know the dates of the 2009 specials?

No, not even the BBC does.

But the best vibe right now is one around Easter and one at Christmas. Right now it seems unlikely there will be any in-between, though there may be one.

After that, the vibe seems to be for two more in early 2010.

Some new episodes I saw:

"The Claws Of Axos" - Really like it. Introduced us to an enemy so dangerous that the Doctor almost died in the process. The Master was great as usual.

"The Sea Devils" - Good episode. Pretty good at first, got a little slow, and then brought me back with an excellent last two episodes. The Sea Devils are really cool monsters. My only problem was, though, that it seems that the Master is almost always screwed over. It's hard to find him as your arch enemy and a deadly foe when he's always on the desperate side of the stick. Still, good story.

"Partners In Crime" - I'm very surprised to say that I liked it alot. Good fun episode that isn't too ridiculous, but enough so to keep the audience entertained.

"The Next Doctor" - Loved it. Great episode filled with good acting and awesome characters. The Cyber King was a big surprise, but a very good one. And even though the Cybershade felt wasted and the Cybermen voices were a bit odd, the rest of the story was great. I actually do wish that David Morrissey was the next Doctor, though. Loved him to bits.

'Sea Devils' isn one of those rumours that never ends about new Who- still a rumoured possibility for the specials (though they were also rumoured for the last two series. As were the Ice Warriors).

i was just wondering, the Christmas special that aired on Dec.25, did it only air just in the U.K or did it also air in North America as well??

They are starting to film the next special this month I believe, so it may be Easter time that it's released. Be nice if it is for Easter, Planet of the Deaddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd. Can't wait.

The Easter one has now actually been confirmed, it seems.

After that, nothing is clear other than thr Christmas one, other than it seems likely that at least one, maybe two, will be in 2010.

Probably won't air over here in the US for a while yet.

The next Doctor will be announced tomorrow!

The name of the actor who will replace David Tennant in Doctor Who will be announced on Saturday.

Tennant said in October that he would stand down from the show after filming four special episodes in 2009.

His replacement - the eleventh Doctor of the TV series - will be revealed in a Doctor Who Confidential programme on BBC One at 1735 on 3 January.

Yep, heard about that on the news, can't wait! no clues at all about who it will be from anyone apparently.

Anyone going to make a one choice only psychic answer on who it will be? see who is right 😛

Matt Smith
His name popped up for the first time this morning.
Hours later its announced the 10th doctor retrospective will include the annnouncment.
Hmm

Please not Patterson Joseph.

Yes, Matt Smith is suddenly receiving very short betting odds.

Theres a posting posted this morning on the net that Peter Davidson told someone in a que to watch DW confidential on sat as a new doc was to be announced and it was going to be an "unknown".
Sounds like the "i met an asian guy who told me to stay away from the shopping centre/underground" story but it was before the announcment was made so...

Matt Smith is unusual looking.
Perfect.

Urgh... he looks like a goblin or some creature like that and too young for my liking, I want an older Doctor, not one in his bloody twenties...

Well, we'll see. The role has apparently been cast for some time; it seems odd that a sudden accurate betting flood would come now in that case but... maybe.

BBC News never included Matt Smith in their list of likelys: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7699513.stm

But then...would they?

That was just based on bookies' odds and fansites, not any info the writers had.
