USH'S LORD OF THE RINGS GAME PART 3- The Tournament and the Traitor

Started by Ushgarak132 pages

Ok, though let's just think tactics here for a mo. Two of them are ganging up on the Dwarf. Now, this means someone fast-moving could get to the side of one of them...

So, Menelacar on A, Anglomir on B, Talin on C & D, Ellothiel on D but outflanking first....

Is that what you mean?

I think that's what Ush was implying, unless Talin is able to attack with the fury of two Dwarves.

That works for me...

That would certainly be a workable plan, yes! Needs a Manoeuvre roll to get around his side properly though.

And I think Ellothiel is best suited to handle that, anyway, so yay.

At them!

Ok, I make the roll, looking for a 50... 85 rolled! Passed indeed, as the two of them team up on the Dwarfm, the lightly armoured Ellothiel dashes forwards to get to the side of one of them! Which one, Ellothiel?

Combat rolls to be made in a moment. But... whenever you succeed a roll, make a note of it in this thread! Yes, that can be a lot of rolls, so count all in one combat and make ine post detialing them all if you wish. But it is very important that you do this, as I have found I lose track if I try it myself with all players!

Every single successful roll gets you xp in this game.

As does every kill you make.

And all damage you inflict.

And even all damage you take...

D is the one I said that Ellothiel would go for, I believe!

William will cheer from the sidelines, having returned from his outing to question the locals. I am sure he sussed the same as Talin that the Prince and his dead friend were chasing hookers and will accompany the Dwarf later.

Here goes then!

Notation is Offensive bonus (weapon type)/Defensive bonus (armour type)/Manoeuvre score/Stamina remaining (current wounds suffered from)

Wounds are unlikely in this fight so those last brackets will likely not exist

Menelacar: 43 (1he)/5 (C)/0/74

Talin: 66 (1hc)/15 (C)/5/101

Ellothiel: 20 (1he)/10 (RL)/20/33

Anglomir: 46 (1he)/5 (RL)/10/82

Cardolani A: 40 (1he)/5 (RL)/5/50

Cardolani B: 40 (1he)/5 (RL)/5/50

Cardolani C: 40 (1he)/5 (RL)/5/50

Cardolani D: 40 (1he)/5 (RL)/5/50

About to make rolls- is that all making sense?

I will be completely surprised if Talin does not decimate his foes... but yes, makes sense.

Yep, Ellothiel's really out of place in this fight...hopefully her speediness will help, heh.

Makes sense to me.

Here goes then!

First off is actually Ellothiel! For a flank attack she gets a +15, and the guy is not pointing hsis heild at her, so her final attack is at +30 to her die roll. She rolls... an 81! That increases to 111, and if I look at the table which compares a 1-handed edged attack on Rigid Leather armour we see... that is a 13C! Oops, that was possibly harder thasn you planned for, Ellothiel. A C class wound that would be, normally, though in this 'play' fighting all wounds are three classes lower than normal, so this goes from C to B to A to the so called 'T' (for 'Trivial'😉. But I still have to make the roll! Roll says- 'no extra damage', so there you go, you've not killed him by accident. 13 damage will do you! He didn't expect the nippy Elf(ish) to blindside him...

Anglomir next. He's facing a shielded guy head on, which in this case is a penalty of 30! And he rolls an 02, which in a real fight might well be a fumble, though I will not embarass him in the tournament. it is certainly a spectacular miss.

Talin, rolling with a 36, rolls 18... also not good enough.

Cardolani guys next! One each on Menelacar and Anglomir, two on Talin. Talin only shields against one!

This guy has a 10 against Menelacar. He rolls 24... hopeless.

Also a 10 on Anglommir. Rolls a 41... not good enough!

First attacker on Talin has a spectacular zero. he rolls 70, by far the best yet, and with Talin in Chain tha could well be a hit. It is! Talin, he thumps against you... for three damage.

Second attacker on Talin has a more respectable 25. Uh-oh! He;s rolled 94, for a total of 119! Hey, he'splaying rough! 119 on Chain is a 13B. That B reduces to nothing, but that's still 13 damage! These guys are hitting at stumpy pretty hard actually!

Finally menelacar strikes with a 13. He rolls a 27... no good.

Slightly slow start, but we have the feel of the ting now...

Oh... that didn't go well. At all.

How do the penalties work? It is -30 against my shield head on, and then you just nominate how much of your roll you take out of your attack and put into defense? And he can go into negative?

Well that was poo - try again, same I reckon! Maybe Ellothiel can get round the back of him this time?

Ow, yeah, that didn't work quite so well...

Is Talin able to try flanking his opponents and still get his attack in? Or is he too slow and Dwarfy for such an action?

Defences- each attacker gets your Defence subtracted from their attack; your shiled applies an extra 25 of defence to one target.

Totally impossible, Talin- they will just turn to face you. You cannot flank anyone whose attention isn not focussed on something or someone else.

Why am I so entertained that Ellothiel's the only one who hit at all this round?

Anyway, she will keep up her attack on the opponent that she is flanking.

Because Ellothiel is absolutely terrible and yet still managed to land a blow... hmph...

Talin is going to keep applying his shield against opponent C, while trying to smash his wooden axe with full force against the shield of opponent D, to drive him back.
