My view on the subject is simply that between giving himself to Palpatine and her dying there where only a few hours. And by the looks of her belly she was not due for a while. At the time he choked her I was almost not himself, he was literally a product of his own rage, Darth Vader.

Sounds reasonable, but to me, that's a little pretentious, and not everyone would get that, after making his original intentions so clear. On top of that, why didn't Anakin get angry with Sidious, since Sidious lured him in under that pretense?

Well A, I dont see where Sidious had TIME to show Anakin anything and B he was lying out of his ass. HELLO?!?!?! The turn worked perfectly, he wanted to save the one thing he had left that he loved, having failed to save his mother. Here agina the book handles this so much better than the movie, but thats just me.

The book scores a 15 on my scale, simply because after reading the book, I was left feeling like Lucas butchered the film.
please elabnorate that JP

You have to really want ot see it.

On that scene, I want to mention the part where you see Ankins eyes shift away from Padme, you know who he is looking at even though he was yet to be shown on screen, that was really well one.

I agree with the book thing JP mentioned, especially after the security recordings.

But it did not hamper the movie.

Oh Finti, there was so much more that could have been done with this movie.......it would not have killed Lucas to wrap up the saga with a 3 hour flick and that along with cutting out the wookie garbage would have left alot more time to include some of the stuff from the book that just enriched so much of story.

Also Astro there is the line where Anakin is talking to Sidious after he kills the seperatists, and Sids warns Anakin to be careful that: he feels a disturbance in the force" and after he signs out Anakin goes "I AM the disturbance in the force." That should have been left in.

Just saw it. What can I say, it was interesting yet odd at the same time.

It is hard for me to put into words.

I guess it would be easier for me to rant on some things, since we all know what was cool about it.

Man I suck at this.

huh......give me a minute

gotta go but the book now..................hhhhmmmmph, do it while I see it again Friday

I forgot that, an excellent moment had it made it to the film. The book is a haze to me, I read the damn thing in a day.

I just thought the scene where Obi-Wan reacts was amzing in writing, having in the fetile position wishing he had died during E1 was heartbreaking, and I liked Yoda poking him with the cane 😛 .

Friday be a better viewing no more bloody toy lightsabers in front of my face, even if the saber waving came to an sudden stop 😈

LOL, I was lucky. I was in the backrow with nothing but aisle in front of me.

I thought it was pretty good, and fast paced as hell.

A fave scene of mine is the one where Anikan sits in the temple tower and Padme sits in her apartment, while the music "Padme's ruminations" is playing. I really liked that.

Thought the space battle was a little short.

The whole Qui gon and yoda thing being cut was not a good idea. When Yoda told Obi about his new training people were like "Wait? What? where the hell did that come from?"

I was also a little pissed about the scene with mon mothma was cut and the formation of the rebellion.

Honestly I would have to review it a couple of times, to pick up on everything.

Oh and actually I really liked the ani/padme scenes. I didn't think they were nearly as bad people made it out to be.

I would have liked a bit more despair from Obi Wan in that scene as well, after all the last time he saw Anakin he had just given him all that jazz about being wise and being proud of him.
Whats the deal with the fetal position and wishing he had died though? I havent read the book yet, please elaborate.

I dont recall a fetal position......my memory is that he slumps to the floor so great is his shock at what hes seen. Going to go look that up right now brb.

OK from the book right after seeing the security images:

Fumbling nervously, Obi-Wan somehow managed to shut down the holoscan. He leaned on the console, but his arms would not support him , they buckled and he twisted to the floor. He huddled against the console, blind with pain. Yoda was as sympathetic as the root of a whroshyr tree.
"Warned you were."
Obi-Wan said, "I should have let them shoot me..."
"What?"
"No, that was already too late-it was already too late at Geonosis. The Zabrak, on Naboo-I should have died there...before I ever brought him here..."

See I think that would have been soooo much better. ✅

Ok missy! (jp that is)
First of all, the book is ALWAYS better than the movie, I have never ever seen th eoppositte to be true
Secondly, SW books are not to be compared to the movie, they are to add to it. The movie is the important part with the book being a sidenote, completely oppositte from when a screenplay is adapted from a book. In this case the screenplay/movie came first not vice versa like LOTR or something.

I just think that SW in unique in that you really cant compare the book and movie as they really are two different entities. SW is the creation of GL and he makes the movies, not writes the books. takes al the difference in the world IMHO...

(but I still lover you! even if we dont agree!! )

WOW you flamed me with the same post in 2 places. 😑

The book is not always better, but in this case it definitely is. And I was under the distinct impression that Stover had a copy of the script when he wrote ROTS? This is a tough subject to discuss now because you loved the movie and I only liked the movie, so right now we are <---------------------------this----------------------------->far apart on objective opinion on both sides here I think. But that doesnt make you any less my gal pal Bilb. mwah1

Yuck...

Books are NOT always better than the films, not in SW not elsewhere. They USUALLY are, but not always. (My favourite example is Jaws).

Well, I haven't read the book yet. And comparing is nonsense anyway. Both storytelling styles require their own techniques. As Umberto Eco once said when they made a film out of Name of the Rose: a book is a book and a film is a film.
However, when a book made after a filmscript is done better than the film, then the filmmaker has a problem.

raised in another topic, but it is of importance.........what about Sifo Dyas and the erased jedi archive?

It was everything I hoped it would be. I was prepared for the clunky dialogue and I DID cringe a few times but overall it was fantastic. My only real criticism was of the duel. Most of the shots were too close up and we couldn't really see them fighting properly. Again though, a fantastic film which made me want to watch EPIV immediately. Thank you Lucas and everyone involved in the making of it.
