Spurs' squad is bad. If you aren't joking when you say their midfield is top four, then you've gone mental.
Bale is an unproven 17 year old. The other guy I know nothing of so I will reserve judgment.
They need a new keeper, and basically a whole new midfield if they actually want to challenge for the top four places. Too many mediocres, no real stand-out players.

Robinson is as good as food, and the midfield is all that and a bag of chips; Zakora and Jenas are blossoming, and an injury-free Lennon is like a greyhound with new legs. Huddlestone to become the Rijkaard he knows he can be, and then we're left with needing a new left winger. Put that in the mix, and we'll be smelling like roses.
Arsenal are top 5 at best.

tevez is probably not quite as good as rooney anyways. owen would be a great buy. but newcastle will demand 9mil+ for him in his buy-out clause, so is he worth that much considering injuries?
I think tottenham's overall squad deserves its current place in the league, uefa cup. it would be knocked out in its first qualifying round in the big one. Everton thought they had it and were humbled.
but i would say they have a top 4 strike force. berbatov is second only to drogba in the prem, and keane and defoe are pretty good. £17 mil for Darren Bent WTF!?!?!?

I don't know, Man United proved last season they don't need an out and out goal scorer as they have lots of players capable of chipping in, and seeing as both Tevez and Rooney like to float around rather than surge into the box I don't think there's a danger of them getting in each others way or anything, I don't see why playing them both couldn't work. Those two, plus Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes, Nani and Anderson, ouch. Hargreaves too...if the new boys settle quickly (and seeing that most of their last few big signings, Ronaldo, Rooney, van Nistletrooy, Heinze etc) have all done that, I can't see Chelsea (Malouda, Pizarro, possibly Chimbonda...good players but not world beaters) or Liverpool (Torres and Voronin, that could be very interesting, but it's still Liverpool) stopping them, if we're judging from summer acquistions.
The thing about Man Utd's buys is that they are basically to replace Scholes and Giggs. They can't all play, so it's not really a first team improvement at all, just a squad improvement. Hargreaves on the other hand is an improvement.
I think Tevez is currently on the end of a big hype campaign that rivals the one Berbatov had. Tevez's season wasn't that amazing, all considered.
A fact that seems to always be overlooked: Berbatov, 12 league goals (Doyle 13).
While the everyone chipping in goals thing is good when it works, it doesn't always.
Imagine if this season Ronaldo goes missing against some of the mediocre teams, as well as his usual disappearing act against the rest of the big four.
Rooney usually goes on holiday for a few months of the season.
The end was pretty amazing, definitely with all things considered. I'm sure you've seen him play for Corinthians somewhere, even if it's just clips or whatever. He's some player, hype or no hype, he's better than Rooney and I'm very excited to have him playing in this country still.

Just saying that, on paper, if Man United could win in the manner they did last season with a pretty fragile squad, with the new inclusions, on the surface they would appear hot favourites, surely?
Rooney's overrated, a potentially great player, but aside from Euro 2004 he's never lived up to his own hype. Saying that, he does score a lot of goals, even when he's not 'on form' and that is very important.

Well, it's hard to say. Last season Chelsea were on the back of two Premier League wins, and strengthened significantly, and Man Utd won it. I tend to feel Chelsea are the most likely candidates. If Eduardo settles quickly, though, Arsenal will absolutely decimate the lower teams against which they had trouble last season. With a poacher in many of those games they would have won 5-1, rather than ending with a 1-1 draw. I felt often last season that Henry was out of place on the pitch, as he likes to break from deep, and Arsenal now tend to pass right into the final third, where Henry looked a bit uncomfortable when he received the ball. He's more made for the old Arsenal counter-attacking style, not the current quick 1-2s around the box.

He gets a fair few, but not enough to justify the hype. It was basically a case of defenders learning how to play against him, same as with Robben after his first season.
im not we shouldnt buy him, but its not worth getting into a bidding war of £20 mil+ for him. we shouldnt cave in for him like tottenham did with bent.
we really need a good ruud replacement. saha scores but is always injured, hence the nickname given to him by the united fanzine 'boltzer boy'. last season we relied on a midfielder to save us several times.
to be honest i think rooney was sulking last season coz all the hype was on ronaldo. nevertheless 14 league goals (i think) aint bad for a player that was often played on the wing or on his own.

Yeah, well, exactly. He is a very good player. Goal count too low for the hype, though. You don't become world class from standing out for a season in Spurs' team, and banging in a few against UEFA opponents.

United's squad isn't that good. It seems better through last season's performance, but that was largely due to Ronaldo. Once their first eleven was eaten into, the squad started to look pretty desperate.
They've definitely improved though, even if the buys were just necessary future first-team replacements, and not necessarily an overall improvement.
I think Chelsea will be nowhere significant this year, their roll is over. The same for Arsenal unless they get the young ones like Walcott meshing to be effective.
Liverpool will be up there IMO, Man United´s "Ugly gang" will be hard to hold back, but I think Rooney and Tevez will cancel each other out. And the defense isn´t that strong.

liverpool have bought one striker who hasnt really proved himself yet in the big time, and you say they'll be up there. this torres may be good, but he cant make much of a difference. the difference between united splashing out on young players without top level experience is because they already had a stronger team than liverpool.
i know united were knocked out of the champs league with a weakened side, but we still managed to hang on and win the league by six points with several injuries. Chelsea however with several injuries dropped countless points. despite winning two cups, this is my philosophy: League>>>>domestic cups combined.
