he does alot more than those two things though. i feel im talking to a wall too.
Wingers, maybe not many. As VVD said, why are you assuming it has to be a striker? There are better overall players than him. Makelele is better than Ronaldo."Oh you can't compare them.", then stop saying he's the overall best in the Prem.
what are you talking about?
makelele is better at defensive midfield. ronaldo is better at attacking and creating chances. how the hell can you compare the two.
ronaldo is the overall best player because of the contribution he has made for the team. he has scored 30+ goals and manchester united are sitting top of the league. Where would they be without his contribution?
But Messi can handle it and deal with it much better than Ronaldo, and come up with the end product much better. Why? Cos he's much better than Ronaldo. That's how it works.
thats where opinions differ.
How was he the best player at the World Cup? Now you're just getting silly. The man is one of the most overrated players in the world, and he will continue to be for a long time because of people like you.
he was definetly up there with the best players in that world cup. he is not overated. thats your opinion. its not fact.
He could do NOTHING from now until his contract runs out and people will still praise him based on this season. He's inspiring Gerrard syndrome, and it's disgusting, because I swear everyone (Including you), hated the man when Rooney got sent off against Portugal.
now he couldnt do nothing and still get praised. ronaldinho was getting the most praise at barcelona and now he has been playing average at his standards. Now he is being critisized. As much as you think ronaldo is immune to critics..you are wrong. and i didnt hate the man at all.
That's another flaw, why assume he isn't anywhere near his prime? Let's see if he keeps getting better first. People said it about Rooney, but Rooney won't ever be as good as he once was.
evidence suggests strongly he is getting better. what season are you watching? rooney has lost a bit of the magic inspired by his very young age at the time. He is still a class act though.
What magic? He hasn't produced any magic great enough to be in their league.
talking absolute rubbish
Well we might as well say on form at the moment:Julio Cesar, Fabregas, Messi, Kaka', Bojan.
i just dont know how you cant include ronaldo in that list.
bojan on better form than ronaldo? i dont know how on earth you can rate kaka this season. him and the entire ac milan team have been shite by there standards. fabregas has been great this season but i would have said adebayor would have been a better choice.
Exactly, so why is Ronaldo somehow in their league? Why is he the one of the best players in the world overall? Why not just the best winger?
then why is messi not just the best winger? as ive said before, ronaldo has got 30+ goals touching 40(not mentioning other attributes) and his team are top of the league in the toughest league in the world. Thats why he is one of the best in the world
Messi has proven he can go further because he started at one level and has progressed many times. Ronaldo's had...one standout season that has been excellent.
so last season wasnt excellent?
see this is where you dont know alot.
adjusting to the premiership is harder than adjusting to spain. messi has been through the barca ranks since he was young and he knows the style of football there. he was bought up on it. ronaldo moved from portugal at a young age to the toughest league in the world. of course messi has had the chance to have more great seasons. id like to see messi cope with the premiership after playing in spain. he would need time to adjust.
Against Derby.Barcelona played Getafe, who were shit, and we saw what happened. Barcelona played Real Madrid, went 3-0 down and we saw what Messi did then.
When has Ronaldo conjured such feats? Ronaldo couldn't single handedly bring Man Utd level against a team like Real. They'd mark him out of the game.
irrelvent points. im sure ronaldo would have a field day against real madrid because of the way they play. The top teams in england are very tight and defensive and its harder to play against them messi would'nt be able to be as effective against liverpool and chelsea as he would against madrid.
Who said now? I was using examples of true players who are or WERE truly unstoppable, and Ronaldo cannot compare to what they did to defenses. He doesn't have the strength or grace to do so. If you haven't got strength, you've gotta have the ability to go around people and not get knocked over, like Henry. Ronaldo doesn't have it now.
well who has stopped ronaldo this season? a winger who gets 36 goals must be pretty unstoppable. comparing ronaldo to henry is wrong yet. was henry as good as ronaldo at his age? absolultly no.
I'm not going to say he never will, but I'm not going to do what you do and assume he will, just because he's having a good season. If he repeats it next season, I will start agreeing with you, void of any shame.
well he has had two great seasons back to back. im pretty sure there are more to come.
Because there are actually lots of negatives, Deano.
you can look for the negatives in anyones game
[quote]Read what I said. Ronaldinho won it; opinion. Ronaldo wins it?; opinion.
The difference is, the form Ronaldinho was in was unprecedented. He wasn't just a bit of a successful winger. He was pulling shit off that nobody has seen since...however long. Ronaldo isn't doing anything for Man Utd that Robben didn't do for Chelsea in his prime.[.quote]
i agree with you. ronaldinho was simply magic and ronaldo has got a way to go before he can achieve the feats of ronnie.
ronaldo is doing much more than robben ever did. robben is purely a winger wheras ronaldo has more the complete package. you feel he could play anyway on the pitch and excell there.

He is immune to critics over here, nobody says a bad word against him. They notice everything he does good, and if he's silent for the rest of the game, ie: Roma, they just focus on the one thing he did right.

Messi did it against Chelsea to the point that he was legitimately getting violently whooped.
Ronaldo only has to play against the other defense that could claim to be the best in the league. The other one is behind him. When he played against Arsenal, Clichy had him in his pocket. Whether it'll happen again, I don't know, but he did.

much better ability than ronaldo? whats that? defending and breaking up play. he has got little pace, he cant pass, shoot or head the ball. how is that better ability than ronaldo. oh wait, it isnt.
He's the most effective player, not the best overall player.
In the prem he is the best overall player this season in my opinion. there are others like fabregas and unsung players like ferdinand or vidic, but the stuff ronaldo has done this season makes him top of the list.

i tend to agree to an extent. but it would be like that with any english side in the champions league. ronaldo and rooney put the goals in to give man united a great advantage. there was never gonna be anything else to talk about. and in games like that against roma, you dont have to play quality for 90 minutes. Tight scrappy games like that allow little chances and once that chance comes you must take it. ronaldo did.
We'll see next season. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
i doubt he will top the season he has had this year in terms of goalscoring. but theres room for improvement in other areas.
Class act? I wouldn't call the abusive thug a class act, a great player on form, sure.
there have been worst thugs this season. whats rooney done this season which deserves him to be called a thug?
It's called freedom of choice, Deano. I know the media says you have to, but you don't.
you know my views on the media.
I'm not talking about the entire A.C. Milan team, am I? Kaka' was the only player of value to A.C. Milan this season, and he's the only one who troubled Arsenal remotely in the first leg.
hardly deserves to be in the catagory of best players this year.
Well then let's say that, Messi is the best winger. He has had a prolific goalscoring season, I do not confuse that with having one of the best overall natural abilities in the entire world.
messi is a natural winger and the best in the world. he is better than ronaldo in some aspects but not others. its getting silly to keep comparing them really. it just depends what you crave more in your team.
I don't think he had an excellent season, a very good one.
fair enough
I know more than anyone.
im sure you do but sometimes i think you twist things a bit out of perspective.
Messi would adjust also, what's your point? Messi is younger than Ronaldo and he's already still improving, and overall, a better player.
he would adjust but not straight away thats for sure. you talk about him getting battered by chelsea, well he would get that that every week. unlike the lesser physical aspects of the spanish game. he would find it tougher here. but yes he would adapt, only not as quick as he did in spain. overall better than ronaldo? ronaldo is arguably quicker, stonger, better shooter and header of the ball. messi is better than ronaldo in the fact that he has the inhuman ability to turn people inside out and find space in a phone booth. Both are deadly. Like i said, its just who you prefer to have in your team.
Messi did it against Chelsea to the point that he was legitimately getting violently whooped.
well he did it against ferreira. to be fair i think i could give him a torrid time. he isnt actually what you would call a solid defender.
Ronaldo only has to play against the other defense that could claim to be the best in the league. The other one is behind him. When he played against Arsenal, Clichy had him in his pocket. Whether it'll happen again, I don't know, but he did.
well clichy is a great defender with lightning pace. he is much more equipped to deal with the pace and skills of someone like messi or ronaldo. ferreira less so.
Ronaldo will never be as good as Henry. He's at his peak now, I think.
probably not but its a bit early to say i think. people used to say henry never turned up in big games either.

You know what they're like, they play it up, they blow it up to be way more than it is as if he run the team rampant. He didn't, he scored a brilliant header after a run that was criminally unmarked. You'd think he scored a Maradona the way Townsend went on.

how do you define who is the better footballer though? ronaldo and makelele are both great footballers who play different parts. makelele is a better defensive footballer while ronaldo the opposite. makelele breaks play while ronaldo does the opposite. quite simple really
i was just thinking ronaldo could play in the middle if he had two others in there with him. that would allow him to roam.
and i was on about ferreira btw 😉

on pro evo i play 4-5-1 or 4-3-3
...................carrick
roanldo.............anderson.....scholes....nani
....................rooney
or
..................hargreaves
............anderson....scholes
............tevez...rooney...ronaldo
to be fair there are tons of different variations to try out
Last week I experimented with 4-3-3 (spot on to your suggestion) and I quite enjoyed it. Not a big fan of formations with lone strikers though. I always seem to crack under the pressure and Reina usually ends up with a finger-tip save. 🙁
Just for fun, I tried out 2-3-5 and got mixed results. For the whole first half I didn't even realize I had Vidic on the right wing.
I don't think I'll be getting it on the Wii.
Well. If Man Utd don't beat Arsenal, they could very well be in deep shit, even worse if they lose. They'll then have to beat Blackburn and face Chelsea at home. If Chelsea are gonna take the title, these next few games will show us.
Gonna be interesting.
