It's because back in the day, a foreign player (From Europe or whatever) was seen as new, edgy and gaining an edge on competition.

Like when Bergkamp arrived, or when Klinsmann arrived, Cantona etc.

It was like an arms race, people just got more and more to keep up. English players simply were not good enough. The lower divisions are full of English players. West Ham probably maintain their mostly English pride, they also maintain mid to lower table consistency.

English players worthy of a hanging with the foreign players don't come along often, and sometimes they just choose different teams. Arsene has never felt pressured to include them, and as a result, they may have avoided Arsenal. Doesn't seem to bother him, and doesn't matter to a team.

That's why I will be supporting France this summer instead of the non-existent English team. 🙁

They exist, they're just shit.

Yeah, I guess when you don't qualify for such a prestigious tourny in years, credibility definitely goes down the drain.

I still can't forget hearing the news that day. Terrible. You know the feeling you got when watching the last scene of Juno? I felt like that but the opposite of it.

yeah, not too many english players fit the arsenal bill unfortunately. im sure if there were wenger would sign them. just look at walcott.

Like you hadn't just wasted a lot of time watching a BS film?

They do, but then they get snapped up by the teams that buy the league. Or they get priced out of the market.

yeah, 20 plus million for a player like hargreaves is retarded.

especially when you've got flamini that does the same job arguably better for a fraction of the price.

I was chuffed like mad.

So, the ol' whinge machine can now add paranoia to that multifaceted psychological cocktail he sips from. Nice.

Also, why did he play that lump Eboue in a must-win game over Walcott? Surely, Walcott deserved the nod after what he did in the Liverpool game.

It's all so sad...We didn't have the mental fortitude to go the distance...

Walcott doesn't track back. Eboue was playing to protect the wing, which he did, considering Man Utd only scored from set pieces. It seems to have gotten to the point where Eboue plays shit before he's even on the pitch. Even though he'd be Spurs' best midfielder and second or third best defender.

hes a good defender, hes just a bad passer. his movements good, but he gives the ball away every time he gets it.

No he doesn't. That's just a blanket statement that has built up from seeing him give away several passes.

When it comes down to it, he's not a winger. Let's see Wes Brown play right wing for a season.

In fact, how many players could play both full back and winger for a big three team? AC Milan and Barca were/are both interested in him. I think they probably know a bit about footballers.

yes, actually, he does. what games have you been watching?

probably not too many can, eboue certainly cant. i dont see why you're trying to deny the fact (and it is a fact) that 80 percent of the time hes gotten the ball in the past 10 or 15 games in a forward position hes given it away through a shit pass.

interested in him as a right back maybe, if thats even true. theres nothing wrong with him as a right back, but as a midfielder nothing seems to work for him.

That is absolute, absolute bullshit. What do you mean Eboue can't? He does. How have you just sat there and typed that?

You have just said that it is a fact that Eboue only has a 20% pass completion rate in the last 15 games.

It's ridiculous that you have just tried to claim your biased, uninformed opinion on a player's general quality is based on a 'fact' that is probably not true of any professional player on this planet, and certainly not true of an Arsenal player.

You have successfully undermined your ability to be taken seriously regarding football.

He doesn't watch games, I told you.

Just guesses.

have you not watched the games? yes, i have just said that in a forward position, 80 percent of the time, he has given the ball away. forward position as in he doesnt pass the ball back to the defence, doesnt pass it backward at all. i mean what a winger would do, as in attacking passes. try and think about one time that he has played a good ball forward. not like a little one two and then back to midfield or defence. any professional footballer should be able to do that.

no he cant. cant insinuates cant do it well, not literally hasnt played the position. in a defensive capacity hes been great, but going forward not so much.

yeah im just imagining eboue giving the ball away ac. it hasnt happened at all. what was i thinking. hes been throwing down assists left and right.

You say that an awful lot. Maybe you're just bitter that we do ACTUALLY watch them.

Nothing you ever say adds up to anything besides what's said in match reports. You just read about highlights then piece a picture together, I think.

You constantly say things that prove you know nothing about the inner workings of football. You know who you like, who you don't like, but nothing beyond that.

Right. Provide statistical evidence then. Obviously you have it, since it's a fact.

Although, you don't of course, as it's not a fact; it's as the French say, le BS.

Just in case you don't, I'm going to create a template to reply to you in future, to save time.

'Bullshit.'

According to the actim index, Eboue has 1 assist this season. Obviously that's not counting Europe, so I don't know the actual total.
He hasn't scored in the EPL either, which is pretty poor for a winger imo.

I'm not saying he has a poor pass completion rate though, because I don't know that... But from watching a few Arsenal games his passing hasn't been to the 'Arsenal standard'. That's all i'll say.
