That's a very bad example; there are better of Ali to use...
In that fight Williams was a mere shadow of his former self (he was a badass puncher); he hadn't fought for over a year and had been recovering from being shot by a .357 magnum in the stomach and he had permanent kidney damage to boot.

Yes Ali had great footwork and moved like a graceful ballerina in the ring, that was never in question. But when facing a diminished opponent and you have knowledge of this, it's easy to dance around and show off a bit.
As I said, there are better fights where Ali is facing an opponent in his league and he does beautiful work despite this.
