to everyone: check out this poll i just created. i based it on all the top choices i saw for the joker in this thread. pages 1-12. this is at bzoink!.com: Bzoink: Poll: Who Should Play the Joker?
the poll powerfulone posted doesnt even have Lachy Hulme. Lachy was actually one of the first actors to be named aside from Adrian Brody. Some of the choices on the poll are absolutely ridiculous. Jim carey, sam rockwell, willem dafoe. sad
Anyways, Im not sure if Joker should be played by any pretty boy actors like Jude Law, Depp, etc, any actors like these two; their image in the media will over shadow the Joker character.
All these young actors considered are pointless for the Joker- they won't have the necessary experience to really portray the mindset of the character. Another thing is the voice. The voice of the Joker is just as important as the look and I haven't heard anyone better than Hamill. Nicholson played himself, it was his voice, the same voice he's used in other films-he didn't bother to make himself sound sinister with the look and thats why he was pathetic. Thats what will happen with Glover, Hulme, Law, and all the others. They'll all rely on the visuals to carry them through e.g. the make-up, the purple suit and the green hair and not focus on the performance.
To suggest dubbing over a live actor is really stupid and insulting to both. Its like saying "Hey mark, you do a great voice but you're too fat and old and short to play the role" Where does it specify the Jokers age, weight and height in the comics? Yes he looks lean and trim in the comics and cartoons but in real life you don't stay like that, you put on weight, you age etc.
Also, any actor who would want to forge a career for himself with the Joker role will not even entertain the idea of not being allowed to use his own voice.

yeah. the thing we dont know is IF these young actors can do the voice...
I don't think they will be able to, like Nicholson, they may not think the voice matters and we'll have this generic accent . Sure they might try with a sinister sounding voice but will it really top Hamills? I guess we'll just have to see when its made.

i think the BBs director and the crew and the people behind it will care more about the Joker. Thats why they decided to find someone who looks the part, and in the auditions they will try to get the actor to do the voice. What i dread is the actor or someone else say "how about i make the voice more like this..." and have them change the voice.
-the F4 movie. Chris Evans and Jessica Alba gave their own ideas to the director and such about new character personalities...change is not a bad thing, but it has to be a change for the better if any.
