It is utterly impossible to say who is the most powerful Sith without a DIRECT quote from George. He is the only true authority on this and I think he wants to leave it to complete speculation.
It could be Vader(pre-suit) he was considered the "chosen one" by Jedi and had an unmatched midi-chlorian count. If he hadn't have been burned on Mustafar, then who knows how powerful he could have became. Some even speculate that Vader was the Sith'ari.
I think its bullshit.
It could also be any of the ancient Sith that were thought of as the Sith'ari(Bane, Revan, etc.).
I think Bane and Revan are the best candidates.

whos to say someone is powerful or not by the power he displays?
If you are a demigod, and you display little power, should we call a god who displays little-no power someone of little-no power? Also, sideous is the only sith lord I know of to be resurected.

He did very little to make the leader (Kaan) do that. Kaan was just mad. He knew full-well what it would do. How did he collect info on all Sith Lords before him? He read a little about them in the Korriban library (LITTLE, certainly not EVERYTHING), and the holocron of Revan taught him for a short while before it broke. So what if he made the RoT known? How does that take ANY skill at all? How does that show ANYTHING expect that he can *gasp* talk? (or write)

The thing with it is, can palpatine specifically do that, or is that just the maximum ability of the power? because, if palpatine could just force planets to bits, why did he need the deathstar, and then that giant missile gun in de? couldnt he just tear the planet's surface apart?

According to the Dark Empire sourcebook, a Force Storm is capable of tearing apart the surfaces of planets, and the Emperor is the only individual in the mythos who has demonstrated mastery of it. That he had planet-killing superweapons constructed isn't indicative that he was incapable of causing planetary damage on his own; the man was as narcissistic and megalomaniacal as it gets. Total domination, it's why he continued to order the construction of superweapons even after the first Death Star. There was no limit to his grandiose delusions.
hey, im not arguing, i just wanted to know. I wouldnt take out a lone to make three planet sized planet destroyers, not to mention if they had weakness's such as thermal exaust ports, if i could destroy planets myself. and, i did read that, you dont need to reapeat it, ivalice. Thanks for clearing that up, gid. So sids is in essence, somewhat crazy.
maybe it ravages the surface, and not destroys the entire planet? like what was done to telos? maybe he needed the death stars because the planets could still be restored, (like telos) after his force attack.
