That said, I'd have no problem believing he could screw with memories if it weren't for the fact that he did that environment thing. Only way to justify that is saying the place has memories...which doesn't make much sense.

That took a few days to sink in when he used it on Chad and Orihime. He didn't just keep fighting them afterwards either.

Maybe he did but figured out something was wrong or maybe like Orihime, the affects didn't trigger 'til after awhile although if they were already kicked in, Byakuya should have a mental breakdown since his real memories would be conflicting with the fake ones although it's possible it takes a strong mind to overcome the pain and the reason I think he could be having conflicts in his head is because as quoted from Byakuya "I have experienced the joy of standing knee-deep in the fleeting moments of insanity during battle."

Well, if we assume what I stated is correct, it makes much more sense.

Tsukishima can not only insert memories, he can "take them" as well. It makes much more sense if he can just basically interface with and manipulate memories. His abilities make more sense if he can do that. So when he cut Sea Shell Head, he not only learned about Byakuya's past and techniques, he also inserted stuff into Byakuya.

I do not know about it taking a while for the memories to kick "in", however. Maybe it was instant. I don't know. Ichigo's sisters seemed to be instant...

None of that makes any sense at all, and I feel slightly more stupid due to reading it, unfortunately.

Anyway, the probable reality is that even Kubo doesn't even really know how his powers work. He just decided to use "memories" as the theme for his powerset and makes shit up on the fly, in typical Kubo style.

Well, since that was my explanation before this chapter, my explanation, I feel, has been vindicated: Tsukishima can "absorb" memories of the person he cuts the same way a Jedi can rip memories out of minds. It works for me.

Combine this with the animistic shinto beliefs and it makes even more sense that Tsukishima can manipulate the memories of non-humanoid souls. 😄

Its amazing how often being awesome coincides with being that as well.

But it wasn't awesome, it was just stupid. Basically Byakuya could've did this with his Shikai if a punch to the chest is all it took.

Both of these guys sucked this chapter. Still waiting for some lesbo action in the other fight.

agreed, wakkawakkawakka. I was amazed at how this chpater went, not because it was awesome, but because it was pretty weak, I suppose. Byakuya only dragged out this fight because he wanted to see if he would enjoy it? kinda lame given how he was before and all. and anyone noticed how Tsukshima started to act more like Aizen by acting more cocky and showing more emotion?

Considering how Byakuya directly stated it was good that he, rather than someone else, was fighting Tsukishima was because he wouldn't pull any punches and would just straight up kill Tsukishima, the chapter came off as incredibly retarded.

That is the biggest flaw in Kubo's writing: He is inconsistent as hell.

Byakuya says he'll kill him before he swings his sword. Next time we see him he is just dicking around.

And yet Soul Society has the nerve to lecture Ichigo. Sure him trying to be a badass was off-putting but these guys are being a tad pathetic.

The above mostly applies to Rukia and Ikkaku though; the two people out of the bunch that mostly jump on Ichigo for his failures.

Oh..and yeah Tsukishima really pissed me off this chapter. He did realize that he only lived that long because Byakuya decided to f@ck around for no apparent reason.

In Rukia's case, it's usually played for laughs. And her chewing out Ichigo is something established.

Ikkaku has no excuse. He can go take his ****ing shikai and go **** himself with it for all I care.

Usually I wouldn't mind Rukia but this time she was kind of being an ass.

I'd include Renji too but he actually finished his fight w/o a problem. Hehehe...don't tell him that he's supposed to die for people that most likely can't even see him 😛

The way I saw it, the 'punch' worked because he didn't expect blades to come from the fist because Byakuya doesn't use that move in training. If it was done directly with shikai, he'd have seen it coming.

It was a cool fight, but for all his power and that he was the real one messing with Ichigo, Tsukishima sure didn't last long, did he?

Also, why was he so much stronger than the other Fullbrings? Was it just that he was able to cut himself training?

I agree. You guys are forgetting that he had to gash his whole arm grabbing some of his petals to be able to do that. He obviously couldn't have just of done that whenever he wanted to.

I'm not entirely sure what the petals did. Increase his speed? Did they add cutting power to his hand?
