And yeah, Kira was in the top 10 at one point(don't know if he still is), mostly due to being a Woobie.

If Kubo killed him, I would be impressed.

But he's such a lameass, minor character.

I guess its like the guys who really like Kiba from Naruto. People are so wierd.

Fans do not care about the characters status. It just depends on how liked they are. I.e, Hinata is nigh useless but people love her.

I like Hinata because she's got an awesome personality and she's cute. 😄

Others like her because they can relate to her character.

Kira is awesome because he's actually smart, calm, level-headed, and plans out his fights like the old-school Naruto characters did. He's a nicer version of Ishida.

If the arc is long enough, some sort of resistance fighter subplot would be fun, too

I prefer Sakura over Hinata, though. Mainly because Sakura overcame the odds and became competent. Well she still has her weaknesses -- namely Sasuke -- but other than that she hits like a truck, and she's a good physician.

No I mean in terms of Kishi flat out saying that Sakura symbolises the 'weakness in the human heart' and her all-defining love of the psychopath that is Sasuke being her main character trait. Similarly Hinata is defined by her crush on Naruto. How many appearences from Hinata in the manga that wasn't about her feelings for Naruto? I can think of one, when she was helping track down Sasuke and I think she still blushes over him.

He also said the same thing about Lee iirc.

Actually there is one moment that Hinata went without thinking about Naruto.

I think you missed the portion of my post where I indicated, indirectly, that Kira is not useless.

I am not a feminist (I do have feminist sympathies, but do not claim to be a feminist) and I am far from forever alone.

But I do not see Hinata as being an anti-feministic character. She was being forced to be the clan head. She failed...her dad got mad...kicked her out, basically...and she decided to succeed on her own, anyway. Sounds like it is almost non-sequitur to what feminism wants. Unrelated...almost completely. Sure, you could spin it and say she is feminist for succeeding in the face of male oppression in a classic male dominant society...but...that's stupid. She was training to be the friggin' clan head so it doesn't make sense that we would find a relate-able feministic story with her. So, Imma say feminism has almost nothing to do with Hinata either for or against.

I'm also gonna say, while I'm being obvious, that poop generally stinks pretty bad.

What retconned powers are those?

Probably talking about the amped Quincy Letz, weapons other than bows/arrows, impressive feats of physical strenght(by quincy standards), the ability to disable bankai...

The closest thing Kira has done to having affect the plot of Bleach is heal Rangiku, who delayed Aizen for like a second. Going further back, one could argue he slightly helped Aizen for a second.

Him protecting the pillar could have been done by any other vice captain and because of bad writing, the pillars were forgotten about. He is an effectively useless character. The Naruto equivalent would be...well Shino I guess.

Nah, he's a useful character that plays his part when his time comes. Compare him to Cue Ball who failed because of his pride.
