They ate. What a lame chapter.

Renji is quite awesome for a regular shinigami. He obviously has something else about him, though...not sure yet. IT WILL BE REVEALED!!!
No he isn't. He's won exactly 1 fight to date and the Fullbringers hardly even count anyway. In terms of personality he is literally a knock-off Ichigo with a rival-complex. He's lame and has been utterly superfluous to the story since Soul Society. How he keeps getting main-character status is beyond me.

The writer and creator disagrees with you so you're inexorably wrong.

What...fights?
He defeated his prison guard, remember? He had to to escape to fight Byakuya.
He defeated several members of his own division in his journey to fight Byakuya, too.
That's just from one arc. I just don't have time to review all his fights.

He's not the same personality as Ichigo. Renji is cocky, arrogant, and sometimes smug. Ichigo is none of those. Renji also has an inferiority complex as his sole purpose from the beginning was to surpass Byakuya (and now Ichigo). It wasn't until the SS Arc that he tried to surpass Aizen...but that's just another goal. None of those things drive Ichigo. Ichigo is more like, "Protect those I care about and do the right thing."

1. Kubo-san likes Renji.
2. The fans like Renji.
3. He's been around since near the beginning.
4. He was made relevant in the last arc with his power-up.
5. The writer says Renji has something about him that makes him relevant in this arc...we will find out.

This is a shounen battle manga, correct? Where the characters engage each other for our sporting pleasure? Renji has fought some rapscallions last I checked, which is never because he's such a boring shitstain that I block him out most of the time.
Fodder doesn't count. I'm talking about actual fights between named characters.

When has he been cocky, arrogant and smug, outside of his first appearance when he had a completely different character than he does now because Kubo didn't know he was going to be redeemed yet? Considering that he's constantly getting his ass handed to him and has a inferiority-complex, being smug is the last thing he's been for a very, very long time.
No, no, Renji's acts exactly like a bratty hoodlum in the same way that Ichigo does. When they're together they will inevitably bicker like a duo of delinquents. He's constantly scowling and reacts to things exactly like Ichigo does. Re-read the chapter and see how they're reactions are perfectly in-sinc. Which makes for a poor character dynamic imo.
Just like Grimmjaw now that I think about it. They're all basically the same character. And look suspiciously like each other. Hmm.
Note that I said 'personality', not 'motivation'.

Being strong doesn't make him relevant. We don't even know how strong he is because he hasn't done anything yet. He is a completely-unimportant side-character.

1. Kubo is an awful writer so hey, thanks for the points!
2. They also like Hitsugayfaggotface. A writer who bends over to please fans is a bad one.
3. So has Chad. And Tatsuki. Hell, Tatsuki is an actually cool character, so pro tip Kubo, do a switcheroo.
4. Which explains why he has done nothing relevant since then.
5. Didn't.... you just say that?

"I am randomly deciding which fights count as fights and which do not so my point can still be right."
As long as you acknowledge that.

No you weren't because you didn't say nor even remotely implied that. You're just back peddling but it would be nice if you'd admit that. However, you're still wrong because he did run right over a named character in that same series of quick wins: Rikichi. heheheheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! 💃

Every single appearance ever afterwards. Are you reading the same manga I am? lol

Incorrect: arguing with Ichigo does not equal being a bratty hoodlum.

Incorrect: Ichigo rarely acts like that. Renji always acts like that.

The opposite is true: being strong makes him relevant to the current events in the manga.

Actually, we do: he's absurdly physically strong, now. We do not know the upper limits. yet.

1. That did not, in any way, make your point. It is a reason why your point fails. He writes the story, not you.
2. That is irrelevant to the point: you are not writing the story, the writer is writing the story (duh?). The writer and probably the publisher tell the writer to pander to the fans. Jeez, don't you know anything about selling your soul?
3. If #3 was intended to stand on its own as a point, it would, but it doesn't and it can't so you need to find another reason to respond to #3 other than making a point that ignores all others.
4. Glad you agree with me.
5. No. "Kubo-san likes Renji." is not the same as saying, "The writer says Renji has something about him that makes him relevant in this arc...we will find out" and it is also not the same as, "He was made relevant in the last arc with his power-up." In case you missed the point, the "last arc" is not the same as "this arc."
Now address all 5 of those points as a single unit instead of separate because all 5 of those are a single reason, not 5 separate reasons.

In case you're confused I am talking about Renji being awesome. Kubo can't decide that Renji's awesome, only I can do that because its a purely subjective term that applies solely to my appreciation of things.
Now if you were to suggest that he's kickin' rad then I might be forced to agree with you and high-five your choice ass.

No. As I said, beating fodder (off-screen?) doesn't count.

No I'm not. I didn't even consider fodder because who the fvck cares. They don't count as proper shounen fights, which is the whole reason we read this manga.
And yeah he ran right over him, as in her ran past him and didn't fight the guy so fail. Trololololfail!

I must be, if you're reading one where Renji is anything more than a complete chore to suffer existing.

The fact that he is a bratty hoodlum who grew up in a slum equals it though.

Lol. Thats off the top of my head. Ichigo is constantly scowling and yelling at people and behaving like the delinquent that if you recall, he is.

The fact is, he has no connection to the plot. Kubo count write anyone as getting a power-up and have them be more relevant than Renji. Like, oh I don't know, Uryu!

And I am allowed to criticise him for missteps that he makes in his writing of the story, and criticism cannot 'fail', as it is again a subjective term. Although I did write some actual reasons behind my criticism beyond just saying that Bleach sucks, namely that he is completely superfluous and has not relevance in the storyline. He is a worthless character, who has contributed very, very little to the quality of the manga.
Also his bankai is lame and his fights are boring.

It was "on-panel" and it was not the only fights he won on panel. I stopped because it is too tedious to go through everything he has done.

He cut his sword in half, actually...he pwned the utter living shite out of them, to be exact. And you are: liar liar pants on fire.

I apologize that Renji's existence makes you suffer. 🙁

He = Renji, not Ichigo. Don't do that ambiguous pronoun reference crap. You're an Englishman, not a Yank: act like it.

You certainly are but it is a red herring that is not what I'm addressing: start that argument with someone that actually disagrees with it.

I have liked all of his long fights, myself. 🙂
Are you coocoo for coco puffs?
Oh look, Nephthys and DDM are fisting each other again.

At least it's out of the way now. I mean I kinda knew they would need to eat and Kirio would obviously be the cook but yeah it was padded. Really could have added more stuff with the Soul Society guys if Kubo still wanted to have that as the cliff hanger.
Next chapter has the Phoenix Palace dude with lime-green shoes.
