Hurricane Katrina packs winds (175mph)

Yikes! They're busing the refugees to Houston, San Antonio and Dallas. There's already 100,000 of them in Houston and now they're starting to send them to Dallas.

They're totally going to swamp our downtown....and seeing as their houses have been totally destroyed, they have no jobs, they're uninsured and have no savings; they'll just stay in our city and settle. They'll have to enroll in our already crowded school system and strain our already crowded public transportation and infrastructure.

Not to mention that these people are extremely poor, uneducated and a large majority are young hoodlums. 😱

So in other words, they'll fit right in.

You b!tch! 😠

😂

😛 You know I love you, sweet cheeks.

Good to see you posting again.

I find it very, very alarming that so many people have such a cold, heartless view on the events taking place in New Orleans.

It's starting to become ridiculous, the amount of people running around saying "Oh, they ****ed up, they deserve what they get, blah blah blah". It's really becomming a cliche right now. People seem to try and say cold things in a poor attempt to get a reaction from people, mostly because saying something mean spirited for shock value is the only way they can get people to pay attention to them.

It's quite sad, really, that people have lost so much compassion for their fellow man.

And here I was going to comment on the UGLIEST signature ever--and request that the person to whom it belongs change it--but I'll be good and stay on-topic.

'Tis a shame.

FEMA could've bussed them out before the hurricane struck. They knew that many people did not have cars, or were too poor to afford the gas to leave, or had old cars that would not survive the 400 miles of evacuation gridlock traffic.

They had 4 days warning and 2 days during the mandatory evacuation period to send buses over and bus them out.

Now it's a disaster, New Orleans is ruined, the Gulf Coast in ruined and now cities in my state that weren't directly affected by the Hurricane will be swamped with hundreds of thousands of refuges and we'll have to deal with turmoil that comes with them.

I'd hate to be the guy WHo has to clean up all the bodies.

CNN Live TV is reporting that a convoy of relief supplies is arriving at Downtown New Orleans. The military is using amphibian (sp?) vehicles to deliver the supplies. The guards are heavily armed and extremely cautious. The images are incredible!

Got any images to post ?

hmm, Lets see what we can pull of CNN

Ok there is nothing much from CNN.com right now, I think, switching source.

When things couldn't get any worse

...........One Hurricane Katrina refugee died and many others were injured Friday when a bus carrying 45 to 50 people from the Superdome swerved across a highway median and overturned.

The accident happened when the driver lost control of the bus, but it wasn’t immediately known why that happened, Trooper Willie Williams, a spokesman for the state police, told The Associated Press
“We have multiple critical injuries and multiple serious injuries and some minor injuries,” he said. The exact nature of the injuries was not immediately known.

The bus was heading north when it overturned around 3:30 p.m. on Interstate 49 about 130 miles west of New Orleans.

Williams said it swerved across the median and southbound lanes, where it rolled onto its right side and slid onto the exit ramp to Creswell Lane, the main street in Opelousas. .

This is an event being compared to 9/11. 🙁

Hey guys i'm back! I made it through the hurricane! We just got our electricity back today. I was glad to get the TV back, and whats on the news is just heartbreaking.

I live in Houston. I'm worried the city will become overcrowded and most people are thinking of staying here.

it's much worse.

The refugees situation is so bad the are considering send some to Canada. Don't worry the govt says go ahead and send them if you like. Ill bet most would just stay here permanently if they go that far.

Over 1000 Canadian personal mostly soldiers and disaster people like divers and such are going on 3 warships and some helicopters. Good news! They finally expect foreign help for once. They said they want to send more but the problem is as our PM says...
I think sending in supplies en mass would be more helpful and also the DART team which can purify dirty water into clean water for a whole town.

"The Americans have said to us, 'Listen we're not in a position to take this. We have to set up coordinating bodies.' Once they are set up, we will be able to do it. But for us just to land there in the midst of a lot of chaos really wouldn't do anybody any good."

I think sending in supplies en mass would be more helpful and also the DART team which can purify dirty water into clean water for a whole town. WE want to help more but we cant just put every thing at once and create a bigger logistic problem then there already is.

The death toll will be in the thousands says a Vancouver resue team in Saint benard parrish (just outside New Orleans) They say 581 and no confirmed death tolls from New Orleans counted yet.

why won't the other countries help us. no but when they need help we gotta rush to thier aid
