actually, currently the most accepted{n also highly valued in marvel} is string theory n its implementations of the multiverse, but marvel is just a jumble of ideas, not one specific thing, n no thanos destroyed the multiverse n adam warlock is one of the only beings capable of leavin the universe altogether and thas where he was, when it happened, outside the multiverse.
I can post scans if necessary Leon. Thanos destroyed one reality thats all. Adam Warlock was in another dimension as he siad on panel. If Thanos destroyed the multiverse there would have been no other dimension for him to travel to. Also on panel you saw him absorb Eternity, one reality.

So how else would you interpret 616 being called the prime reality by the multiversal guardian?
you see this is the problem they are mixing the metaphysical (poorly understood) with the Scientific (poorly understood). To be clever and a little dismissive of "prime reality", I would say the one the majority of the comics are set in - ergo its the marvel prime reality.

I can understand an editor or a reviewer calling it the prime reality or the main reality for that reason, but for what reason would Roma call 616 the prime reality?

Indeed 🙂
there was that Pooh being in the Thanos mini who was alos uneffected, Thanos referred to himself as the Ruler of a reality, not all reality.

Same reason really - by making it the most important it really makes a mockery of any scientific basis. The reason for this is mainly due to the problems with observation most famously highlighted by Heisenberg and expanded by Shrodinger.

"the problems with observation "? Huh? lol Would you care to explain?

Ahhh but there kind of a semi religious factor. I.e TOAA does not exist in the world of quantum mechanics.

Sort of........
The act of observation actually does affect objects the smaller they are the more it affects them macro objects are not usually affected as much (although some would say otherwise) and therefore the macro Universe is a deterministic one. The atomic subatomic and below 😕 ✅ are strongly affected.
However Schrodingers cat really shows the macro can also be an unknown based on probability.

Ehhhh 😕

But surely as the multiversal guardians what Merlyn and Roma see as the "Prime" is what really counts?

you see the whole idea of multiversal guardians is hilarious - universes live and die - until all the energy is used up and entropy wins out.
So youre not disputing this:

You just dislike the ideas surrounding it?

not dislike just think are silly. God/Gods OK fair enough depends on belief but all other roles are not needed as universes live and die all the time - probably 😖hifty:
Cool. Thats understandable.
So tell me what you think Phoenixes role is in the multiverse and why? What sources have made you come to this decision?
