Didn't take the time to read the whole thread, but this is the Bible's perspective in a nutshell:
Being a practicing homosexual is a sin, according to the Bible. Some Christians have homosexual tendencies, but if these are not entertained, it's not a sin. It's pretty clear throughout the Bible that God takes a dim view of non-heterosexual relations [take Sodom and Gomorrah for example], and in 1 Corinthians 6:9 it's said that homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God -- that is, have eternal life through Jesus Christ after they die.
Using phrases like "thou shalt not be homosexual; being homosexual is an abomination" makes this sound very high church and preachy and stuffy, but basically God is against homosexual relations because it's not what he intended. Being a Christian believer of the Bible, I believe that God created each of us, so I say fair enough. A lot of people don't agree with this, and I understand that. Like all things in Christianity, you have the choice whether you accept or reject it. But that's the Biblical view.
