Last-Gen Console Discussions (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii)

Started by Rohangiga507 pages

I played ps3 for the first time the other day at my friends house, and i think the new triggors on it are pretty good, but the same desighn is getting so boring. It is also really heavy, like way more than origional xbox. I like how you can put in sd card, usb and memory stick duo

As GK pointed out, consoles will never equal computer games.

Just look at the tech demo's of the CryEngine 2 for Crytek. Holy shit.

What I like about consoles is that I can always play the games that come out. I never have to worry about if my XBOX 360 can handle it or not. It always works.

What I like about PC's is that I can play all the crazy high end games that just work to well on the PC than the console. PC's can have so much better experiences with gameplay.

That's why I have both because well, I like both.

I could get a PS3 at anytime...any Electronic store have a lot in stock.

But what I'm really looking for is a Wii...and those they're currently out of stock.

I gonna say this one last time.

You know why you can't find a wii, check one my earlier posts a couple pages back.

But for the most part: Shipping figures, not sales figures,

Sony has shipped, by now, probably a million more units than Nintendo has.

Nintendo sucks ass in that regard for sure

Sony hasn't shipped anywhere close to how many units that Nintendo has.

And part of the reason that warehouses aren't sending out every single system the moment they get them is to spread out their inventory and make it last longer. Shipping them all at once won't make them stay on the shelves any longer than they are now, and would probably make the problem worse.

Geez, how many times does this stupid notion have to be killed? When comparing how systems are selling, shipping figures are worth nothing. Because Sony's shipping figures include all the PS3s across the country simply sitting on store shelves getting dusty. Guess what? Sales figures aren't anywhere near as high.

But that's why you wanted to ignore the sales figures, now isn't it?

Nintendo's sales and shipping figures are much higher, with the shipping figure at around 4 million. Their sales are only slightly lower, the difference being the consoles still in warehouses so that the supply isn't depleted.

And to clarify more than Lana did... if the company warehouses shipped out all the units at once, each store's supply would still last less than a full day, and then everyone who didn't get one would have to wait a month instead of a week for the next shipment. Keeping a back supply in the warehouses ensures that, barring some supplier mix-up, every store gets a steady stock of units.

The thing is that it only works when you get an steady supply of units and not the whole "5 units" per store deal. Nonbody knows when they're coming so I rather have a bunch of units at one store on a certain day and if I dont get one...tough luck. But I dont have to waste my time driving around the city looking for an Wii. If I miss my oppertunity then I'll just wait a month and I wont get angry.

I dont see an difference between shipping out the whole supply rather than give small amounts of supply. People still have to wait months to get one. What's the difference. I rather have some company tell me that they're shipping 1000 units for Ottawa and all 5 stores will get them on that certain day and if you miss one, then well, next month will have the same thing. I'm just sick and tired of driving around looking for the ****ing thing. It's retarded.

Sooner or later, Nintendo needs to get thier act together because people are getting angry at this which could have an negative impact on people who were thinking of buying it, but are not sure about. They might just give up if Nintendo cant get an worthwhile supply into stores.

Spidervlad you are a little crazy, and you hurt yourself when you argue. You had a few good points about the hardware but then you invalidated everything you said by saying the PS3 will be greater than computers because that notion is ridiculous. The ps3 probably won’t even get better than my current 7900GT sli setup, and I know for damn sure it won’t get better than a 8800GT sli with Intel’s new quadcore.

The wii has sold and shipped more than the PS3. The PS3 just isn’t selling right now because it has no appeal to its customers. Blu-ray can only grap a few amount of people, and the games grab only the fanboys because the games suck the ass right now. The PS3 will be great but it’s going to be a much longer and hard road to travel then it was for the PS2.

The Wii really needs to up there shipments because the wii is going to become less and less desired as time goes on. I was going to buy one for wii sports but now I have already played wii sports an my brothers house so many times I no longer have a desire for a wii, until fire emblem comes out anyways. And right now the Wii could jump ahead of the Xbox360 rather easily and with a lead that big it could out due both xbox and ps3 but now is the time for Nintendo to do it and they aren’t doing it very well.

I dont understand where this notion that Wii wont be like a few years down the road. Its almost like you have already seen what happens to them. If graphics is a big issue then why would they have sold out and are still sold out of Wiis?

ps3s at my work still aint selling. we have a total of 20 systems all 60 gigs. as of 2day its 3 weeks they been there.

That's assuming that the company warehouses get their shipments regularly. If something went wrong there, then it could easily be a couple months before they'd get more, meaning a couple months before the stores get their systems, meaning people being even more pissed about not being able to find them.

Haha, damn, where do you work?

Get ready for the most bizzare story so far....

PS3 "Shortages"

🤪

Note: Click the link on the first guy who posted a reponse. 😛

See, it's this sort of crap that is destroying any chance the PS3 may have had. When Sony is constantly, pointlessly lying to the consumer, it makes most people want nothing to do with the PS3. Every time a Sony rep opens their mouth, it hurts the company as a whole.

I bet Harrison's keynote speech at GDC will be like Sony committing suicide.

That picture of the "shortage" looks similar to the "shortage" at my store 😂

So releasing them slowly will help the fact the Nintendo cant supply thier own product? I personally dont think so. I think Nintendo should fix this problem of getting some supply to stores that's actual meaningful and not just "five systems" per store per week. What they're doing is not working and it needs to be fixed.

I have to agree that Nintendo needs to supply more than "five systems" per store. People will eventually turn away from getting one or forget that they want one. Take XBOX360 for example, they had a shortage for about 3 months or so but they realized that they need to pick up the pace and so they did.

360 was completely gone for 3 months, Wii is at least showing up in small doses.

No, but I have sales knowledge that others do not. As in what corporate figures are. Which IS representative of about...4000 stores.

Actually, comparisons are showing that PS3 graphics are similar to or slightly inferior than the 360 at the moment.

Graphics are the single least important thing about games, anyway.

And the new RE is not a PS3 exclusive.

Its a fact that the PS3 games that are also on 360 are actually direct ports.

90% of 360 and Ps3 games will be made on each other and/or ported anyway. If Devil May Cry 4, and MGS4 aren't ported, I'll be surprised.

Please, before posting something like that check back my post. I never said that it would be better then computer, I said that it MIGHT BE AS GOOD AS COMPUTER. Go back to my post and reread. It will be the closest thing to a computer than any other console, and you can't argue with me on that

Devil May Cry and MGS will never go to the 360, beilive me. There one of those games like Mario on the Nintendo that stay with the company.

Added to that, PS is the father of RPG's. We know anyone who wants to play a shooter gets a 360, and anyone who wants to play more strategic games or RPG, they get the PS. So in the future, I'm preety sure most RPG games will come out on the PS3, and don't give me none of that MASS EFFECT shit, because we get the point that the PS3 launch sucked. I'm not saying that the PS3 is the best, i'm saying that nobody should go around forums saying PS3 is a "pile of trash"

The whole shortage thing might be true, because I mean, if there are people selling PS3's at 1400 dollars on EBAY, and so far the most expensive PS3 sold on Ebay was 1320 dollars, shouldn't that mean they are having atleast a little stock problems?

Another thing your forgetting is the shortage of PS3's in Europe. Maybe the PS3 will flourish in Europe, we're just going to have to wait and see.

PS is the father of RPGs?

Do you know ANYTHING about gaming that's from longer than 10 years ago?

RPG video games have existed far longer than Sony's made Playstations.
