Last-Gen Console Discussions (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii)

God no, last thing Wii needs is more shitty gimmick games that have nothing other than the control scheme to move units. Developers haven't even learned to use the regular Wiimote properly, yet. Once they master that, then we'll talk about this new one.

Really though, I think the best way to go about something like this at first would be to impliment sections of games that use it. This is something that I think would start off cool, and just get boring after a while "Ok, I want to sit down and play now, but I can't, I have to stand here bobbing around like a bafoon". Having short segments in games utilizing this technology would allow the notion to stay fresh and fun, without becoming tedious and overwhelming.

Sure.

It looks cool but I just think it wont work for gaming. Not everybody has a big empty room to play games, or stamina to play a game standing up, or sqauting down and moving around for more than 4 hours (not everybody is athletic), what would happen for people who have bad knees, bad backs, injured in someway, or an laptop they cant put infront of thier tv. There's many things that could possible go wrong. Even having a TV with a bad viewing angle could possibly hurt the experience. There is also some sort of social thing on where you might look like a tool playing around.

It sure looks cool, but I personally dont want to play it like that. I try to relax while I play games and ducking and standing up repeatedly doesnt seem that fun. Even moving my head up and down in repeated motions for more than an hour doesnt seem that fun. It might be more immersives but that doesnt make it fun.

Also, didnt really think of this but what about the HUD, wouldnt that kidna of destory the immersive factor. There is some games out there that try to remove all that but still dont completely do that.

You make it seem like you have to jump 3 feet to the left/right to use it to its fullest. It could be as simple as just having the attachment not on your head but on the Wiimote itself. Heck even having it on your head wouldn't require you to stand and duck as much as you make it out to be. It could be just the small movement such as tilting to over a little.

But then whats the difference?

Isnt games nowadays use that same technology to move the camera using the Wiimote.

I thought the whole thing about this was that your head tracked what was going on the screen. Also, it wouldnt work either. He was using his head to move the screen while using the other Wiimote to shoot whatever was on the screen. So now you have to hold both Wiimotes in two hands, plus have the ability to move your character on screen. Wouldnt work.

And what he was doing literally is what I was talking about. He was moving left and right a foot or two in either direction and bending to move his screen down and up. Overall a couple of hours, it would hurt. Just look at baseball catchers, they have horrible knees and they wouldnt be doing the same thing for more than 4 hours constantly.

This guy is correct. The tracking has to come from the players head in order to create the intended effect of looking through a window at 3d objects. It would mostly work for FPS as I cannot think of a better use. The tracking already occurs from the Wii remote..but the Wii remote is not what we want to have the perspective desired.

Target shooting would be fun too, imo.

I think BackFire made a great point. The setup required to truly make a great experience with this would really need to be elaborate with the room being a sphere or partial sphere with several projectors working in tandem to truly create the an excellent effect. I Beleive that has already been looked into.

i tried headtracking at home, but all i managed to do was make the pointer move 😬

😬

Ah.

Well, that is what happened with MGS2, came to the Xbox about a year later. So that's not impossible, I'd venture to say it may be probable.

It probably will come over. The head honcho's have been telling Kojimi (sp) that it needs to come over the 360 to make a profit.

I also heared that MG4 is one of the most expansive games ever made. I wouldnt be surprised and if it doesnt do that well, it's coming over to the 360.

Well if MGS4 goes to the 360 all Sony would have is FF13 which may be going to another console.

The obvious question here....

Why can't Nintendo get FF13?

Are there any differences with SE and Nintendo?

MGS4 for Xbox, a low blow for Sony, but a big advantage for Microsoft.

Yet another SKU....

and MGS4 a year after it's totally probable, the same thing happened with MGS2.

... I can't see what all the fuzz is about 131

Not that I'm aware considering Square Enix is making games for Nintendo including the remake for IV as well as Crystal Chronicles 2 as it has already made Revanant Wings for the DS and III for the DS as well as plans to remake VI for the DS.

And the KH games as well.

But those games are remakes and sequels

not the actual Final Fantasy games (the numbered ones)

...except for CC, which wasn't was it was meant to be... though CC2 looks very promising (and a lot like KH)

I would love a FF game on Wii (I'll definitely be picking up CC2) but I don't think the actual FF games will come to Nintendo, not before FF 13 comes out...

and, Can the Wii handle a game like FF13? I don't think so

The Xbox can.... 😉
