Y'know, actually, that all is a pretty good point.
All the fancy-looking stuff in FF is prerendered. It's not running on some in-game engine with a million more polys than the Wii can handle.
FFXII in-game looks great, and is on PS2. The Wii can do better.
Square Enix has spent a ton of time updating the first six games of the series to Nintendo systems, including completely rebuilt reimaginings of III and IV on the DS.
So it's a very good question: Why can't XIII be on the Wii, too?

I keep expecting Sony to all of a sudden pick in sales and stay solid for a while. (Both hardware and software.)
Do you think the PS3 would have sold as well if there wasn't a Blu-ray disc player in it? The PS3 has the best hardware specs as far as visuals go, it is a real shame that the PS3 hasn't done better.

It doesn't matter how long Sony lasts. What matter is that both the Gamecube and the Xbox had very little support where as the PS2 had all developers making exclusive games that Nintendo and Microsoft needed to come out with a Next-Gen console sooner to have a chance. Now the Wii is getting all the third party developers and history has shown again and again that the strongest console (usually) loses.
Sega Master System > NES...the NES won
TurboGrafx-16 > SNES and Genesis...TurboGrafx-16 failed horribly
Saturn > PS1 ...Saturn lost
Dreamcast, Xbox, & Gamecube > PS2 ...PS2 pwned them all
Heck it's even true in the handheld market
Sega GameGear > Gameboy ...Gameboy pwned
PSP > DS ...60 million to around 20 million. DS is pwning PSP
Even now:
PS3 & Xbox 360 > Wii ...the Wii (within it's first year) has gone on to outsell the PS3 and 360 now approaching the 20 million mark. The strongest console hardly wins the console war. Nintendo and Sony seeme to have traded places. The Gamecube couldn't get third party support and the PS2 had them all; now the Wii has all third party developers and the PS3 can't seem to get any.

I concur and highly doubt that it will come to the Nintendo Wii unless they take the franchise into a whole new direction and dumb down the graphics substantially.

If they were to port it to the Wii, they'd have to put a lot of work to actually dumb the graphics down considerably, probably not something they want to actually put work into -- making the game look worse.
Really though, it more so just comes down to their chosen relationship with Sony. When they began planning and creating FFXIII they probably assumed that the PS3 would be far and away the most popular and successful system, as the PS2 and PSX was, so decided they might as well just make it exclusive for them, they probably weren't prepared for the Wii to be such a massive success, and for the PS3 to be struggling as it is.
It will be interesting to see how they go about FFXIV and exclusivity and all that.
PS3 is still massive in Japan/China. Microsoft has almost no market for the 360 over there.
Anyway.

Countdown to 360 purchase: 40 days...
...ish.
😮
Initial Game List: Spider-Man 3, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Assassin's Creed, Orange Box (Portal & HL2, not really TF), either Madden or NCAA Football
When They Come Out: Marvel Universe Online, The Force Unleashed
Possible: Gears of War, Mass Effect, Bioshock
So. Much. Greatness.

Move Bioshock from Possible to Initial Game List, as it's the best game on the console hands down, Gears of War as well, but that game may not be for everyone.
I'd suggest not buying Assassin's Creed right away either, that game is the very definition of a rental, it really isn't very good as a whole, and it has no replay value and it's not very long.

Noted, thanks. The good part about my list is that half of them will be "rentals" from friends for as long as I need them (Bioshock, GoW, Mass Effect, Orange Box, and eventually Force Unleashed when it comes out) so it limits the number I have to buy myself. I'll likely end up playing all of them on the list eventually, because 4-5 games over a couple years is loads easier to afford than 8-10.
And the only reason Bio and GoW aren't on the main list is because I'm not the biggest shooter fan. So I'll likely have to get my feet wet with the games to see if I like them before deciding to play the whole thing.
If your not a shooter fan, rent Gears Of War. You can easily finish the game in 1 rental, but its a damn good game. Best Co-op experience out there for SP.
I would buy Orange Box, but then again, look at my pic. But there's alot of gaming in there that probably couldnt be finished in a rental.
Another thing, why do people care so much about how many console each company sells anymore?
I used to care but I realized its a good thing to have good competition.

Because the best selling console always gets the best games. The PS2 got so many great games because they had more consoles sold then the Xbox and Gamecube. Third party developers tend to try to make a game for the console(s) that has the most systems sold to make the most money. Hence the reason so many exclusive games for the PS3 have been going to the 360.
