Erm, I'm assuming he was talking about the idiot quoted in S_D_J's post saying that the 360 is dead because blu-ray won.

Of course it won't. And I do agree that by them not irrevocably committing to one format was a smart move. It won't be hard for them to make an extra attachment for blu-ray.

I thought the post you made was directed to me, sorry about that. 😮
Why does everyone support the 360 so hard, its not all that. Its a terribly built machine, everyone's console will die sooner or later. I also don't believe the hype about the great games that it has. Gears and Bioshock are my top two, everything else seems media hyped despite obvious short comings. I also noticed PS3 games were marked down on reviews for certain thing while 360 games were not. But yeah great console.

Every system made is going to die sooner or later. Technology isn't exactly made to last forever.
And there really are a lot of amazing games on the 360. Not a huge amount, but certainly more than there are on the PS3 so far. It does have a bit of a headstart, but even so, it took the 360 a full year to put out a truly killer game (Gears). The PS3 has been out a year, but it's still not done that.

You can never keep up. 😐
Xbox has better games then the PS3
Xbox has more features then the Wii
Thats how I see it.

ps3 needs a massive kick to get going... it needs mgs soon or i dunno how long it'll last...

well, blu-ray winning the hd format war has at least made sure the ps3 will continue to sell as the best bd player currently out in the market. its a bd player, and yes, it also plays games 😛 .
plus, the ps3 has been constatntly outselling the xbox360 world wide since december even with the higher price tag and "inferior game liblary" as many like put it. The ps3 is definitly still in the game.

I actually did explain the sales thing already a couple of pages ago. 360s haven't really been available in stores since a few weeks before Christmas. They're hard to get at the moment and usually when they're in, sell out nearly as quickly as Wiis do. Meanwhile, PS3s are basically stock-piled because they really don't sell.

i beg to differ, the ps3 is selling, and selling well. if it werent selling than sony wouldnt have shipped over 10m units world wide. and yes, i'm using their shipped numbers. retailers are purchasing ps3s form sony coz they are selling thourgh their stocks (over 10m i believe). hence, sony being able to ship more ps3s to retailers. it is misleading to claim that the ps3 "really dont sell". if you want examples of consoles that "dont sell", there's the sega cd and the 32x and the virtual boy.
honestly, i find it hard to believe that the 360 is in short supply. i mean, it has been out for more than two years, you'd think that microsoft would have already taken steps to meet demand. plus, i read somewheres that the 360 has shipped out 17.7m units and sold around 17m. so there's 700k units sitting around in stores and shelves out there. and yes, i know that many of these are arcades, but arcades are 360s so it is again misleading to claim that there are no 360s available.
but if the 360 is indeed experiencing stock issues, its probably coz microsoft is being forced to use newly manufactured xbox360s to replace damaged and unrepairable 360s hence teh shortage... 😛 j/k j/k

I love my 360, its the perfect console for me. srug
Its not as technically good as a PS3's power, and doesnt have the Wii's originality/innovation, but its more of a gamer's machine to me. The Wii appeals to and is accessible to people of all ages, which is one of the reasons I dont like it....its basically 'dumbed down' to sell to everyone. Not selling Nintendo short or anything, congrats to them for doing what they intended to do, but when I want to play games I want something a little more deeper than Wii sports. PS3's game library is pretty much the same as the 360, except they only have a few exclusive titles, which dont really interest me enough to buy one. Also a bunch of their old exclusives are ported to 360, and they dont have any killer titles yet. Halo 3, Gears of War and Mass Effect are 3 of 360's biggest hits.
PS3 are also lagging behind the other consoles. 360's online capabilities are better. Wii's fanbase is larger. Nintendo and Microsoft are dominating with the extra peripherals and crap you can buy (not that you need them, but still at least they're there). Both 360 and Wii's games libraries are bigger and better at the moment.
Compare Virtua Fighter 5 from PS3 to the 360 version, the PS3 might look better, but the 360 version has online; much more useful. Its silly things like that which push the PS3 further back, they are sacrificing things we might want for its only selling point: better graphics. Also in some games, reviews have given 360 games better scores for things like framerates and such. PS3 looks nicer but all the power is spent sucking on graphics so the games look good but lag.
I dont want to come off as a 360 fanboy, cause if I had the money I'd get all 3 consoles cause they all have cool games, but 360 has more games that appeal to me.

Prices. How many average teenage gamers/college students bought a PS3 when they first launched? People got mugged for PS3s because not everyone could afford one. Also if people are buying one because of blu ray, what happens if a blu ray player comes out thats half the price of a PS3? PS3 will pick up in sales eventually, but right now Sony seems to be marketing the blu ray capabilities rather than the games, and this will go on for probably the first 2 years of the console's life, after that the big name games will start coming out and they'll market it as a gaming console again rather than a cheap HD blu ray media player thing.
