i beg to differ, the ps3 is selling, and selling well. if it werent selling than sony wouldnt have shipped over 10m units world wide. and yes, i'm using their shipped numbers. retailers are purchasing ps3s form sony coz they are selling thourgh their stocks (over 10m i believe). hence, sony being able to ship more ps3s to retailers. it is misleading to claim that the ps3 "really dont sell". if you want examples of consoles that "dont sell", there's the sega cd and the 32x and the virtual boy.

honestly, i find it hard to believe that the 360 is in short supply. i mean, it has been out for more than two years, you'd think that microsoft would have already taken steps to meet demand. plus, i read somewheres that the 360 has shipped out 17.7m units and sold around 17m. so there's 700k units sitting around in stores and shelves out there. and yes, i know that many of these are arcades, but arcades are 360s so it is again misleading to claim that there are no 360s available.

but if the 360 is indeed experiencing stock issues, its probably coz microsoft is being forced to use newly manufactured xbox360s to replace damaged and unrepairable 360s hence teh shortage... 😛 j/k j/k

Dude. I WORK in a retailer. I know how much the company I work for is getting of the different systems every week (as it's in our store emails), I know how many sell, and I know how many are collecting dust in stockrooms. When we get in 360s, they sell out as fast as Wiis. When we get in PS3s, they don't go anywhere for weeks.

Lana, what's the current price of a Playstation 3?

Isn't it around 500 dollars?

$400, as the only one being produced and sold right now is the 40GB one. Which is the one that has absolutely no backwards compatibility at all.

And has no good PS3 games worth getting.

Uncharted is worth getting.

That Drake game does look good I must admit, but from what I have seen it's just like Pitfall, Gears, Prince of Persia, and Monkey island merged into one.

And thats a problem? "Oh no! It looks like too many good games!". 🙄

360 is still the best

Gears of War is not a good game.

so do i, but one store isnt a representation of the whole market. sure it may be collecting dust in your area, but it may be selling well in other areas. and i know for a fact that ps3s are selling out here where i live. though i live in asia which is probably why its selling better than the 360 😛 we asians just love our playstation.

that depends entirely on preferences.

-if the 360 has the games you want to play, then yeah its the best for you

-if the ps3 has the games someone else wants to playm then yeah, its the best for that someone

-if the wii has the games another someone wanst to play, then yeah, its the pebst for that person.

-if they all have games you want to play, if you got the cash, good for you coz you can buy them all. if you dont have the luxury of extra disposable income, then your screwed to chose one or two and hope for the best.

Not just talking about one store - we do get emails with distribution expectations for the entire company 😛 and up until the one today for the next week...360s have not been being shipped out much. Though it's going to be picking up. Trying to catch up from Christmas, you see.

Also, new PS3. It's going to be 80GB, I believe released in the summer, and is supposedly going to come with MGS4 as well as the Dualshock controllers. No word on backwards compatibility with it, though.

I'll never truly understand why Sony doesn't include backwards comp on the PS3. 😬

Luckily, I have the 60 GB hard drive that I bought at the launch.

Im glad the dualshock is coming out, it will help with MLB the Show. 😄

Yay, my PS3 game collection will jump to 2 next week. WOO. 😐

Dualshock controllers themselves should be out in...April I think? Not 100% sure but it's soon 😛

As to the lack of backwards compatibility on the PS3...we were pondering that last week, actually. The conclusion that we settled on is that Sony's doing it to try and force sales of their games - people buy PS3s, but use it to play PS2 games more. Cut out that, and people HAVE to buy PS3 games.

I have no idea of the truth of that, it's just something we were discussing based on a rumor that a customer heard, but it would make sense.

ah, gamestop right? silly me.

i suppose 360 is to na as ps3 is to asia.

and for the new ps3 bundle, heard that it would support the same bc as the first 80gig models. though i'm not completely sure. but i'd gander that it would hav b/c since sony is focusing on having 2 skus. 1 econo and 1 peremium.

Yep. Although why anyone would buy a PS3 to play PS2 games is....beyond stupid.

Yeah, because they could just play their PS2 games on a PS2.

It would save them a lot of money.
