Last-Gen Console Discussions (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii)

But for people with a large library of PS2 games, its a lot nicer to be able to pop one in the PS3 instead of keeping a PS2 hooked up all the time. Not to mention they could sell the old PS2. I still have xbox and gamecubes that I play, but its on 360 and Wii, I just dont see the point in having it at first, and then ditching it.

Also, if people are new to playstation, they may want to play PS2/1 games they missed. I know when I got my PS3 I went back and got God of War to check it out, I didnt like it, but I tried it. lol

Thats the thing, consoles should offer that freedom and choice, especially a PS3 considering the hype it received from being so great and powerful.

Yep. Although why anyone would buy a PS3 to play PS2 games is....beyond stupid.

I don't know if you are joking or being serious. I like to play Mario Sunshine, Smash Bros Melee, Metoid Prime 1 & 2, Star Fox Adventures, and many other Gamecube games and it's nice not having to dig up my Gamecube and hook it up just to play these games when I can just play them on my Wii...same goes for Xbox games. I wouldn't mind going back and playing KoToR and it makes it easier doing that just on the 360 since it's already hooked and ready to go.

Dualshock controllers themselves should be out in...April I think? Not 100% sure but it's soon 😛

As to the lack of backwards compatibility on the PS3...we were pondering that last week, actually. The conclusion that we settled on is that Sony's doing it to try and force sales of their games - people buy PS3s, but use it to play PS2 games more. Cut out that, and people HAVE to buy PS3 games.

I have no idea of the truth of that, it's just something we were discussing based on a rumor that a customer heard, but it would make sense.

April indeed....and have you seen how much they gonna cost:

$55

So much for "it's last gen" according to Sony.

That isnt so bad I guess, only 5 bucks more than the norm.

ps3 is doing fine...

In a recent report released by VG Chartz, it was found that the Playstation 3 sold better in its first 14 months than the Xbox 360 did during the same period. According to VG Chartz, the Xbox 360 took four months longer to hit the 10 million units sold mark in its cycle than the PS3, which hit 10 million units worldwide in January. The numbers also show that the PS3 has been selling more consistently worldwide, rather than the Xbox 360's predominate strength in the North American market. February is turning out to be a whole host of good announcements for the PS3!

Also I don't buy that 360s aren't available. I see them all the time.

Regardless , the wii is the best system imo right now.

It was the puzzles and overall imagry that got me hooked on GOW.

I am having trouble deciding on whether I want to buy MGS4 Ps3 bundle, or buy the 40 GB Ps3 then buy a slim silver ps2 later.

I'd say wait and get the bundle, there isnt anything really coming out between now and then that you would be missing out on, and as far as I know 80GB arent being made anymroe at the moment.

The fact that most people talk about the blue ray and the movie capability's of the console, is a sad fact in itself.

I think he meant people buying a PS3 just so they could play PS2 games and not buying any PS3 games....

... and yes, it is stupid. Most would be better off buying a PS2 instead, much cheaper...

You just said 360 is better than Wii because it has a DVD player... how's that any different than BR?

Because Darkhalen hates the Playstation "3", so it's okay.

I like the Playstation 2, I just don't feel they made a good choice when it came to 3.

Edited 😉

What choice other than price? Just because you cant afford it doesnt mean it sucks. 🙄

yeah the price was complete F'ing ridiculous. Neo darkthing, how can you say Sony made a bad choice with PS3, blu ray won......I am reading all the time how developers are going to be devolping games for Ps3 first and then port it to the 360.

I frequent the (insert consol name here)fanboy.com site all the time.

I go to Sony's and nintendo's and they are always talking about new great shit, and stuff that is just so reafirming that they know what they are doing.

I go to Xbox360fanboy.com and the first thing they have on there is an article how 10% of 360 failures are from the RROD.

Then an article of "hey look at these halo 3 mcfarlan figures"

then an article about COD4, a 3rd party game, is kicking the crap out of their coveted Halo franchise.

I would love have a 360 along with all the other systems, but in general MS is just boring in my opinion.

Ign's top 25 of Xbox games were nothing but racing, FPS's, and three seperate years of Madden. While Ps2's had all sorts of genre's.

All they do is wait until something is popular and then try to buy it out.

They're not innovative like Nintendo and Sony are.

Ha, lets not get carried away, that show just say "Nintendo". lol

I can buy a PS3, I don't want one, if your going to make a point Adobe you can at least have the courtesy to use my correct username.

Yes the blue ray won, fantastic for DVD's, nothing special for games. 😐

Edit: My friend says I should get a PS3, TBH as a media center I think it may be well worth the money, as a games console no way.

I'm happy with my ps3 and wii. I have ps3 for Rockband, wii for fun games like Mario Galaxy or zeldas, and also my ps3 plays blue rays. Also it has other good games as well. I have no reason to ever want an xbox 360. I'm not saying its a bad system or even that ps3 is better, but for me the ps3 is better.

I think theres a big difference between being unable to afford... and not wanting to get ripped off

I'm curious about PS3's shelf life.. which is really what determines the systems value

A PS3 is a rip-off it does not provide the value for money that it should do.
