With two "Nintendo fanboys" as your mods you really don't expect to be attacked? Really...
The argument was three days dead. Bringing it back up was completely unnecessary. Don't do it again.
And get your facts straight before calling someone a fanboy of anything, because a Nintendo one I am not.
I like their systems, I like most of their first-party games, but I don't think they're perfect. In particular I dislike how little they do anything with the wi-fi feature for the DS.
I also think that with their games they do need to branch out and try something new - Zelda in particular should get shaken up a bit. It can (and should!) be more than simply Link saving the princess. I mean, Zelda's name is in the title. Make a game where SHE is the main character. We already know she's a bit of a warrior princess (she uses magic, she's an archer, she knows how to use a sword, and she was completely awesome when disguised as Sheik), so why not?

And if one where to say the WiiMote was a gimmick?
Well, I would disagree, because I'm not the sort to think that "doing something different" automatically equals "gimmick". First party games use it very well. Nintendo can hardly do anything about the fact that most third-party developers don't bother to do much with it.

I'm getting a PS3 around the holiday season, and I was looking to hear some feedback about the PS3 from some people who have it. What are the ups and downs of the system?
Chances are you'll mostly get negatives thoughts about the console from people who don't own it...

Read the last three pages.The PS3 doesn't have many good exclusives (But it will!), it's graphics are for the most part not superior the 360's (But they can be!), and it's biggest plus is an online feature that isn't as good as the Xbox's (It might be!), a BLU-RAY player that is cheaper elswhere (An investment!).
So, yeah.
that pretty much sums it up
the biggest negative seems to be the money issue, since you can play good PS3 games, that are also available in a cheaper console (199$ arcade)...with the almost exact same quality (be that a little better or little worse)

Very similar to your original response;
"Oh, please, not the damn 'gimmick' thing again.
The motion controls are an awesome idea. They have been shown to work very, very well.
Developers not utilizing them fully does not make it a gimmick. That just means that they're lazy about using them.
And no, 'point-and-click' is not something you can do with a DVD player because even just basic games like that on the Wii still require the motion sensor so it knows where to point on the screen. A better comparison would be "The 360 just has me pressing buttons on a controller. I could play that on my DVD player"."
At least you; 1.dont change opinions and 2.stick your ground. Props from me for that.
Price drops in Aus.
Microsoft is dropping the price of their entire Xbox 360 console range. New pricing as follows:
* Xbox 360 Arcade now AU$299 (was AU$349)
* Xbox 360 Pro now AU$399 (was AU$499)
* Xbox 360 Elite now AU$549 (was AU$649)
Haha, my friend must be pissed, he just bought a Pro 2 weeks ago...haermm
I see blu ray readers and burners less than half the cost of a PS3, with no price drop coming for the console. I think they're sinking. mmm

The original XBOX didn't win the last console war, though.
What, PS2 had a two year jump on them. In terms of sales in the smallest margin of time the Xbox dominated, Sony had to use time for an advantage.

I think the original Xbox did very well considering. For company brand new to the console business coming to the table well after the PS2 released, it did a great job gathering a strong following and putting the building blocks(XBL) in place for the long run. A LOT of things can be attributed to Halo, but the original system I think did very well.

I have a PS3 and a 360--and I have been a Xbot for a while. The 360 and PS3 are pretty much the same spec-wise. Some games look better on the PS3 and others on the 360. The free online is a plus. I used to defend Xbox live because it is superior, but now that I have tried playing online for free I have come to the conclusion that Xbox live's "superior design" still does not warrant the 50 bucks per year pricetag. People just don't want to concede anything to the PS3. As for the Pricetag the PS3 is still the most expensive console out there, but if you're planning on buying a BlueRay you might as well buy the PS3 to have the combo and end it there.
If you already have a 360 there is really no need to buy a PS3, but if you don't have any currentgen console I'd recommend trying it out instead of just doing what the mob tells you to do.
