Yea i got the hdmi prong connection with three for the hd and two for the regular. Green blue red for the hd and white and red for the regular and that is hooked into the ps3, all seems to be correctly connected. It happens at all times u can really see it with a black screen the bars look dark purple and travel up the tv at all times.
Maybe it's your TV, I don't know tbh, I don't own a PS3.

Which leads on to my next point.... I have a few hundered pound kicking about that I want to spend on gaming... Question is: Do I buy a PS3 and a couple of games, or do I just buy a lot of 360 and Wii games?

I'd say if you have a HDTV and no blue-ray player you could buy a PS3. If you don't however, I don't see any big reason to get a PS3 if you already have a 360 and Wii, unless you are a MGS fanatic.

........Little Big Planet looks fun....... (That is honestly my only real reason for wanting one..... and it's enough to almost sway me into buying one)

I'm picking up a PS3 for the player.

A regular HDMI cable works with the PS3 right? What about component?

Any problems with the PS3 hardware when it comes to breaking?

Of the PS3 exclusives there are I'm interested in MGS4, Drakes and LBP, however seeing as I don't have a HDTV yet, those are not enough to make me buy a third console. However it's your money so do as you pleases.

any HDMI cable has to work, there really isn't much sense to buy expensive monster cables when you can barely notice the difference anyway... unless you plan to have your console more than 10 ft away from the TV.

If you already have a component cable for the PS2, there's no need to buy a new one since it works with the PS3 as well

Not a single problem I heard about the hardware... except for bad updates that could potentially brick the console (always know what the update brings before updating).... that and technical support for 20/60 gigs is rather limited nowadays....newer consoles don't have any problems, it seems...

Thanks man.

I already have an HDMI cable that I'm using for my HDTV box. Just going to switch it for that, and then use component for HDTV.

I'm looking forward to it. I'm actually exicted to be playing and watching movies on the same thing. Takes less space and its HD.

This is somewhat next gen:

cant load the damn thing (i hate being capped), but it had better come out for pc (ironically, the only system battlefront 3 hasn't been announced for 😬)

Now own all current gen consoles! Got the PS3 today, not bad so far... Only got LBP though, which is cool.

I just got it too.

Got MGS4. Pretty cool actually.

Love the Blu Ray Player and when it upscales my DVDs

I love the PSN... Just bought Rayman. Old school.

You will love MGS4.

Any decent DVD player upscales DVDs- one of the reasons why Blu-ray is a format in danger of toppling over; there's just not enough incentive to buy at the price.

Well isn't the disc space one of the salespoints aswell? Having huge movies on one disc instead of two etc.

Judging by sales, not enough of an incentive that, no. But getting into detail on this is really something for the DVD area; I just thought it sensible to point out that upsclaing is not a Blu-ray thing, relative to reasons to buy a PS3.

Poor PS3. No one is allowed to say one good thing about it nowadays.

Well, I don't have one of those players. I also know that Blu Ray player isnt the only player out there that upscales DVD's., just mentioned that I love the feature on the PS3.

I could buy one that does upscale, but I also wanted to play games, and watch Blu Ray movies, which do look awesome on my TV and look better than scaled up DVD's. And free online is pretty sweet.

So why'd you get a PS3? *rimshot*

Seriously, though, I kid.

You're a fool if you think prices won't drop... Remember when DVD first appeared? Players were stupidly expensive for a good while.
