It has impressive sales. In total, Wii has 50 million, 360 has 30 million and PS3 only has 22 million.
And Wii will dominate once New Super Mario Bros Wii, Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M are released. And probably in 2011, we'll see Pikmin 3, an F-Zero Wii, StarFox Wii and a new Zelda. Which will end the competition as we know it.
It had impressive sales, however Wii sales have significantly dropped in the past few months, and it does not have great sales in terms of games, because of the fact that it has so many casual games.
Those games will not end competition. Yes, they'll be nice for the more hardcore gamers that have a Wii, but most of the casual gamers will not go for them, and they're the group that make up 90% of the people who own the system.
Meanwhile, PS3 sales are finally picking up and they've been selling the most recently. Honestly, it was due to happen eventually; most everyone has a 360 and Wii already, so what's left? I still don't see the point in getting a PS3 myself, but whatever.
I do believe that this year, with the exclusion of the Wii, is really showing a death of exclusive games. Last week while at work, my manager and I were comparing the coming soon lists for the 360 and PS3, and I think we were able to count on one hand how many exclusive titles both systems had. That I can recall, the 360 had Halo ODST and Mass Effect 2, and the PS3 had Uncharted 2, MAG, and God of War III. Almost everything is cross-platform now.
