Why the hell did you open it up before trying that avenue first?

Crap. i didn't think of doing that.

That ave. completely slipped my mind. Only fools rush in, i supose.

wow.

o well, i'll still try them anyway. no matter the odds. Ya never know. I'll go there on break @ 1p.m. to see what they say.

Good luck.

Just got back. they said that i traded in an "arcade" for the Elite in Dec. '08 which means my warranty's still valid cause it's (obviously) been less than a year.

They said to just bring it in so they can "check it out".

They're not gonna open anything. They repair cell phones, at most. And if they notice anything funny i'll just say that "i didn't do it, how can i be responsible. What do i know about opening up a system besides why would i do that knowing i'd void my warranty doing so.." lol.

At most they'll probably just blow dust outta the 360 with those canned air compressors through the vents and that it's.

If not it's off to ebay.

The sell "arcade's" (w/hdmi) in there used w/o the hard drive for $160. Not bad, hu?

Methinks he doth protest too much...

that does sound fishy, too much, and nervous-like, doesn't it...

I'll just say "i didn't open anything. Doing that would've voided the warranty, wouldn't it."

You're screwed, they're going to check most likely.

There is a seal on the back of the Xbox console that gets broken when you open the system up. It's sole reason for being there is so that employees can easily tell if the system has been opened.

You can buy the seal online.

I can still say that i didn't do it; that i don't even know how to open an xbox up and why would I if it voids the (CEX) warranty...

I'm gonna go for it tomorrow @ 1p.m. If they don't take it, o well. its not the end of the world. Either way nothing'll happen to me. Like they won't do anything to me. Worse thing those emo stoners'll do is say "nah, dude, we can't take this." but then i'll say what'd ya mean? i never tampered with it, i must've got it from you guys just that way.." I'll go as far as i can with it, lol.

They haven't any proof it was me..

You or not, the warranty is still voided.

Is the seal broken?

If so, they won't take it.

you should have use a hairdryer on the sticker (seal), it comes off easily, and no one will ever know you opened it... unless of course, they open it on the spot...

... not that I have ever tried it 🙄

Yeah, though the stickers would get a bit curly and didn't stick all that well, but it was enough to fool the tech guys.

It doesn't matter. It's YOUR Xbox, it's your responsibility. It doesn't matter if you opened it or not, if they see the seal is broken they can't refund it, period. If the employee is not a complete idiot he'll see right through your lies. I used to work in retail and you learn very quickly that almost everything that any customer says to you is a lie.

Your only hope is to get a stupid or very, very cool employee.

Or do as Zack mentioned and buy the seal online.

Yup, pretty much 100% this. 99% of the time if a customer says they didn't do anything, they're full of it.

what if i'm just looking for an exchange.. With them an exchange is always more doable.

Afterall, it's call CEX (computer exchange) for a reason. (I pronounced it "sex"😉.

But I see what your saying about the ms seal. I did see that I ripped it in half.

So, where can I get this seal again? Just anywhere online?

Will getting a Wii Zapper be any good and the Wiimote doesn't require batteries does it?

Yes, the Wiimote requires batteries. It's a wireless controller.

You're not supposed to buy the seal, but the ever loving hacking community has them. Unfortunately I can't give you the site here, but try googling for them.

EPIC FAIL right there. The PS3's wireless controller can get charged from the console so why didn't Nintendo think of that idea?

There better be chargers for the Wii mote.
