You get a USB cable that connects to the PS3 controller to console. It charges it up the controller.
The same thing that the 360 has but it comes with the system and not a separate cost.
My only complaint is that it does not charge while the console is on (makes sense because its a USB cable) but the 360 charger does.
There's light at the end of the tunnel..!

Hey guys, I need some advise about the PS3.
I won a really good bid on ebay on an american PS3 60gb that has hardware backward compatability. Now thats super, had it for awhile and all, but the thing went yellow light of death. sent it back, got a new one, 10 hours of gaming and it goes yellow light of death too!
Ok thats annoying as hell. Now I am left with 2 options.
Seller insists that we give it another go and hope the yellow light dosent hit a third time, if it comes back I get a full refund for the whole thing, which is fair enough in my opinion. He also offered me an option
Now the option stands between this.
Get a new PS3 60gb with hardware emualtion or get a newer 80gb model with software emulation.
The harddrive is is irrelevant because I plan to get me 300-500gb one instead when I go to Italy later this year.
The real question is, software or hardware emualtor, AND are the newer model's not also less likely to get yellow light of death?
+ is the differance between hardware and software noticable? and possibly wont software also have the option to get more powerful as time goes by? (I have checked wikipedia and the games I wanna play are all playable in software)
What would you do?
The YLOD is a very unlikely problem to happen. Are you sure you got a different console the second time around?
It's either one of two things: overheating (some say 10 hours straight in a non-ventilated room may be enough to do it in) an HDD problem and with 60gb models: a solder on the motherboard cracking.
I say if you want to keep the console, trade it in for the 80 gb model (it has software emulation). It's not like it's not gonna happen again, but a third time with a different console may be too much.
and you still got a refund if anything were to happen
About BC, it could happen (if rumors are true) that Sony might release a firmware to allow all PS3 to have BC. A patent for Emotion Engine emulation was file by Sony, though it does not mention anything about the PS3.
Yeah I am pretty sure it's a different console, 100% I took my pocket knife and made a tiny little scrath at the bottum just to make sure I wouldint get the same one 😛
But I somehow I feel better with the 80gb version, I am pretty sure that will be the one I choose.
Anyway dose anyone else have anything to add to this matter?
Oh and is there anyone here that has the 80gb version and has tested games on it?
Because with the 60gb version, I was able to upscale the PS2 games when I had the latest firmware update atleast (maybe that was always there but I donno) I was able to choose full screen under and put a smoothing effect on it, so the ps2 games got a "Antialising" effect. Is this possible with the 80gb?

my friends has an 80gb PS3, he sold me his 60 gb. All PS2 games he's got work on his console... except one (MK shaolin monks). Everything it's exactly the same, as long as they have the same firmware.
So yes, you should be able to do fullscreen and smoothing on your PS2 games as long as the PS3 can play them

What's this I've been hearing about the Wii mote giving wielders major injuries? I watched a vid on youtube that had interviews with Wii owners and they said while playing the Wii, they're hands were hurt worse than they can possibly imagine and one time I saw a Wii mote slip out of someones hand and it went right into the TV and it broke a lamp also when the person tried playing the Wii again.
