Ill let the video speak for itself.

I hope more exclusives will be made for the PS3.

Multi-platform games ported to the PS3 look graphically inferior to its exclusives.

Maybe due to the fact that the programmers wouldn't want to waste their time to add more details to the textures and everything.. it would be like starting from scratch all over again lol.

Just look at Bayonetta.. it's ridiculous how the 360 port had better graphics than the PS3.
The developers probably got lazy and just ported the same code and graphics engine.

The PS3 can run BluRay discs, which substantially hold a lot more data than DVD discs.
Just think about the possibilities the developers can exploit.. Like a GTA with better graphics than GTA4, better AI, more missions, and larger map.

I believe they were still coming out with an external Blu-ray hard drive for the 360, so the PS3 isn't really unique anymore as far as that goes.

'sides, I already have a Blu-ray player, and never use my gaming systems for watching movies anyway.

Microsoft said they aren't doing an external bluray last I heard. It was a rumor that got squashed.

'Twas just a rumor.. and based on the hardware specs (add to that the faulty hardware), the 360 doesn't seem to have the raw processing power needed to run BluRay discs.

PS3 uses BluRay discs as a standard medium.. most multi-platform games ported to the PS3 use the older DVD format, which limits the PS3's true capabilities.
If more game developers take the chance to exploit the data capacity of BluRay, PS3 games would be more challenging and/or have more eye candy, instead of just porting the games from other consoles.

So? I didn't mention anything about movie playback.

Developers are not going to waste their time increasing the quality of the port when the "lesser" 360 game sells more.

It's been happening for years so the PS3 situation is not different.

It was only a rumor, and the only benefit it would have gotten would have been bluray movie playback, none a single use with games

Bayonetta wasn't ported by the developer company, they didn't want a port at all, so they weren't involved with it. It was SEGA that did the whole port and that's why it came out lacking...

I heard Platinum Games was going to do something about the US PS3 port though

Hmm, when games get ported to PC, they usually get significantly improved visuals. I guess devs just hate PS3.

That's because the PC is much, much easier to program for than the PS3 - especially since 360 coding is based on PC coding. The PS3 is a complete and utter pain in the ass to program for.

Also, a decent PC with a decent graphics card has more power than a PS3 will have now, anyway.

That's funny I was gonna say that...but then I didn't.

It's not that funny.

Are you arguing with yourself?

I don't have to answer to you, you are not my parole officer.

Also, you have the ability to change the resolution of the screen which you don't for a TV.

But in the end, there is bad ports for the PC that don't take advantage of using mouse controls during menus (drives me nuts), and there is bad ports from everything.

I think what manufacturers should really focus more on is the build quality of the games, especially the medium.

Here's an interesting video I found regarding game medium, particularly CDs:

YouTube video

If only manufacturers try to find a way to keep the CD from getting easily damaged.

Maybe if the CDs were encased in a plastic cover or some other material like the PSP UMDs.. it would definitely minimize the risk of scratches imo.

I still prefer the good old cartridges over easily breakable CDs (especially since you could carry 'em around easier without having to put them in their case), but I guess those days are long gone now.

Well, like I said, they could implement a plastic cover ala PSP UMDs.

Have fun paying massive amounts for cartridges.

How about we learn to take care of purchases. That's how you do it.

Easiest way of fixing the "problem"

Steam and other download software providers.

That doesn't fix the problem at all 😬

There's a higher risk of losing the downloads altogether when the hardware fails.

Goodbye precious save data and game data..
Then you'll have to worry if you have to pay for the re-download of your games. It's just additional stress.

Maybe someday (hopefully) they can make a medium for consoles which is about the size of a PSP UMD or smaller, but with twice the capacity of a BluRay disc.. or the games are sold in 64GB+ Flash sticks

why cant more game developers be like Hideo Kojima, make a game at highest quality to accomplish something, instead of making a game in the quickest/cheapest way possible so we can make more and sell for cheaper, games would become far greater

i like this idea, but make them way larger than a bluray disk, like 30 games worth (use mgs4 as a benchmark) then that way you can download them and store 30 games in a small package.

though really you can do that, its called an external hard drive, and they are relatively cheap, my friend got a terabit and a half for like $130

edit: btw i just pulled the 30 games worth out of the air, i didnt think it would actually work with 1.5 tb lol
