It didn't say the games would become 360 exclusives, only that Capcom may be leaning towards making them multiplatform.

Again, it's just rumor. The console wars haven't even begun. Everyone's making half-assed assumptions and predictions that don't really have any ground.

Am I the only one who remembers that consoles shelf life lasts for about a decade?

Does anyone really believe that all these corporations will sit there and keep a consistant strategy to selling their product?

No. Things will change. Marketing will change. The industry will change. And everyone no matter what console they're rooting for will be proven wrong in one way or another.

Which is why I find these "wars" laughable.

Yeah, they said that the production cost was cheaper than they thought so they lowered the price.

is it comprehensible.....

Hopefully they won't make the same mistake they made with the Gamecube and the N64.

Nintendo! Get third-party developers! Stop relying on Mario and his band of seamonkeys to carry your company!

From IGN.com:

Current exchange rates would put an equivalent US price at $170.00. However, console prices rarely convert according to exchange rates. At most, we can probable take this report to indicate an anticipated US price of under $200.

Nikko Citigroup previously forecast a 25,000 yen price for the Wii. The firm arrived at the new, lower price point based on its expectation that Nintendo will be able to procure the Wii's CPU for less than expected.

However, it should also be noted that Nintendo's official word is still $250 for the States.

Actually, Nintendo has not yet released any U.S. price point except that it will not be higher than $250, which technically, they aren't really obligated to hold to.

And even if the CPUs cost less to manufacture than Nintendo thought, so what? Nintendo is, first and foremost, a business. Their job is to make money. If a CPU costs less to make than planned, that means you stay at your projected price and get more/lose less money per console.

And with the PS3 steadfastly at $600, and the 360 holding at $400 for at least this year, Nintendo has no reason to lower their price to make the Wii more appealing. Price-wise, it's already the most appealing of the three, by a very long gap.

With the amount of interest 3rd-party developers are showing for the Wii's innovative controls, inexpensive dev kit, and ease of programming, there shouldn't be any worry about a dearth of 3rd-party games.

I wish the Wii was less than $200. So what's the deal with Sony...are they manufacting PS3 consoles or what?

They setting it up. The actual manufacturing isn't a problem. It's a press of a button on a computer.

It's setting up the factories, employees, protocols, etc all over the world from outsourced firms.

They have a specific date to start making the PS3s. With their technology, they should spit out hundreds of PS3s per hour per factory.

However, should one thing go wrong, then the entire batch is ****ed...

Um. Not really. They have teams and entire companies working for them to prevent that and moreso work on a counterstrategy if such an event happens. They also have teams to record, account and categorize the progress of the production.

Does anyone work in business. A large one? I don't know why people talk as if it's one factory out in the Ozarks where Oompa-Loompas build the PS3s by hand....

It simply doesn't work like that. Microsoft and Sony are large, multinational, multifirm corporations. There firms within firms within their overall firm. They have one firm do this and another do that and then they add it together.

It's not as clear and cut or simple as everyone thinks.

No one can guarantee that Draco69. Even if Sony had a Magical Genie. They still will run into some productions faults.

Every system ever made has production faults at first. The PS3 will be no different.

Also, there are now rumors that suggest that the Wii may be as low as $170.

Most assuredly. But not enough to destroy an "entire batch" or likely have an adverse effect on their quota.

It would have to be something massive, something that affects all scales of production.

Absolutely. Like the Xbox 360 and it's "burning harddrive" or noisy fan.

That's rumor spread by EA. It's highly unlikely to sell that low. It's going to be around $250. As General Kaliero stated, Nintendo is not a saint or someone who actually cares about the customers so much they gonna cut the price. It's business, they're in it for a profit (which they really need in comparision to Microsoft and Sony whose main course of industry production isn't even in the video gaming market) and they're gonna sell it a high price but low enough to brow beat the competition in having the lowest price.

It simply doesn't make any sense to sell your top console at a price that's only 40 dollars or so away from your handheld system...

I know, would be pretty awesome though.

I think it will cost $199.

I'm betting higher. $220 to $250.

I agree with General Kaliero.

I'm definitely getting a Wii for my little brother for Christmas. He wants the Spongebob Racing Game (I swear to God Nintendo, if you make the Wii a kiddie console like the Gamecube...)

I'm holding off on the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Primarily because of the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray war. A war with in a war. *sigh*

bleh...well find out next month, just wait..oh and draco, i dont think it will be as 'kiddie' as the cube..there are a fair few 'adult' games, including red steel, call of duty 3 and farcry..and those are just launch titles..

ZOMG, Far cry ! 🪩

To be honest, why do you care if SONY, MICROSOFT or NINTENDO sell at a loss or profit? Your not the one shelling out the cash to make these consoles anyways.

The original arguement was why isnt SONY manufacturing PS3s when theres only less than 3 months until launch. If SONY or NINTENDO didnt pay any attention to the XBOX360 launch or learned anything from it, on launch day when there systems have some faults and when they run out then they will feel very sorry specially SONY. Yes its true with the press of a button PS3s will be made however whos to say they will all come out perfect and when they need to produce enough to launch world wide.

I don't... 😬

No sane person would invest money into the video gaming market. The shares are too unpredictable and its about as profitable as selling ice cold lemonade in January...

I already answered these questions.

Quick Review:

Quota.

Low Demand/High Supply = Bad

Restrategizing (Bad Publicity)

Possible Bundle Packages

Organization of outsourced firms.

There might not be a war if they start combining HD Players and Blue Ray Players together like they say they will.
