Eis, did I ever tell you how much your sig makes me laugh! lol, fight the liberal scourge! 😄Anywho, sorry to contradict you webjac, but we do belive that "God once was as man now is". Now, I don't think that exactly proves God resided on a planet, or disproves it (the main point in that quote is that God was once mortal). Just that he was like us...
And, Jesus isn't God, he is his son. Christ is the God of the old testament and the savior of the new, as far as titles go, if that's what you mean.
The main point of the quote is "God was a man on another planet" not "God was a man".
So, mormons disagree on this topic? Some believe it, some don't?
Eis, it's not that all members believe that, or disbelieve that. More or less, some have not studied that deep into the doctrine. Some are not ready, and they know this so they stay away from deep doctrine. Deep doctrine is for those who are ready for it, and can handle it. Those that are not ready for it end up being tried with it. If they stay true to the word of God, and keep their faith they shall be blessed with it's understanding. Though, most the time people study deep doctrine, forgetting the basics, and fall away. So, those that don't know usually have never studied it, and will say they don't believe it. I tell you this now that if it came to the time that all things should be known unto man, than yes we all would know this to be true. Anyways, I just ask that those who are not members, and those who are not ready, please do not study the church's deep doctrine. It is not for you to know at this time, and please do not try using it against us. For one of us will have been ready for it, and prepared ourselves for it, and we shall explain it the way God intended it to be. You may, or may not understand it after this. I ask for you all to take up my challenge, then come back and tell me this church is false. Read, ponder, then pray... God blesses those with faith more than He does those who lack it. Broken heart, and a contrite spirit is key to recieving the truth, not a hardened heart and a selfish spirit. Have faith, stay true...
Ramses is right
many people dont study the deep doctrine unti they are ready for it
it is usually people much older that study deep doctrine, we are not ready for a full understanding of the doctrine, which is why none of us, can explain it to you know, but i know that it is true, and if you ask me how to explain that i know, i wont be able to do it, it is just something that i know,
and if you say that it is false because i cant explain why i know, then i want you to explain to me how salt tastes, cause you know how it tastes, but pretend i have never tasted salt, and explain to me how it tastes
Here here! I am with you!
And I'm glad you agreed with my post. We all go through things that cause us to rethink our lives and renew our faith, but what happened here in my home town...it's just...terrifying. ALL of my friends have moved away because they have lost everything. I recorded some of the devastation, but I can't post a link for it yet. I need to do some editing. I was listening to Prince's song "Kiss" and I didn't realize that I was singing...loudly...and that it was all being caught on tape.
*dies of embarrassment*
I haven't done any reading yet...but I think I will read tonight. I've been feeling the urge. I have to read 3rd Nephi...I have to stop being afraid to read it. (I'll only explain that by PM to certain people) I think that's why I stopped reading...because I'm at the end of Helaman. Maybe one of you guys can help me out....who knows?

No, we don't dissagree, I'm saying that's how that person sumarized it, and it's not correct. Or, thats not what that says. Thats just how the nonmember took it.
well, Kella, im not sure why you can't read 3rd nephi, it is a great book, and was one of the most testifing evidences, for me at least, that it was true, i would like to know, so could you PM me, and ill see what i can do to help,
im not exactly sure what else to type, im having a few problems right now, and i just needed to do something to ease my mind, im just extremely worried about this girl that i really care for, but im not sure what to do right now, but being able to talk in this forum really helps me out, you guys are great,

It's a real quote. That's bullshit, you can't not be ready for it. It's not a "deep" meaningful phisolophical statement.
It's plain and understable. "god was a man in another planet".
Does the LDS church agree with this term, officially? Yes or not.
God was never crucified...Christ was. And no...I don't think there was a Bible there.
If you want to know...officially...our teachings will give you the answer. Look for it yourself...don't ask us to talk about subjects that we have already stated we are not willing to discuss at this point. It is deep doctrine...whether you think so or not. No...we didn't have to go excavating deep caverns of the unknown to get the things we believe, but it is still something that takes faith to know and to understand which is exactly what makes it deep doctrine. It takes a certain level of understanding...which not everyone has.
For example...you're looking at our beliefs very one-dimensionally. When you want to see in 3-D...sincerly do...you will. And for those of you who are sarcastic or naive, I'm speaking metaphorically.
thats exciting News for you Kella,
Eis, we have told you, and whether you believe it or not, it is deep doctrine, and we as members can not fully explain it to non members, until they are ready to believe, it is something that everybody must find out for themselves if it is true or not, it doesnt matter if we explain it to you perfectly, if you are not ready to understand it, nothing we say will be of any importance, it is something you must pray about yourself
Regulus has a point there, Eis. Anyways, we all agreed no deep doctrine things. The simple basics of the church, and that is it. Atleast for now, if this is still going on a couple years from now, we might as well get a little deeper, but hey thats years from now. So, we being members of the church would know what is deep, and what is not. You being a non-member would not know that, even if you use to be a member and now is inactive or so forth. Either way deep doctrine is for those spiritually ready, and not earthly or physically ready for it. It's spiritual readiness! So, please ask simple questions if any at all.
Anyways, Kella, I am happy for you, and I am happy you are coming back. I'm glad you're deciding to come back. Please if you have any problems with anything, or just want somebody to talk to I'm here. You know how to PM me, and you got my email/MSN messenger. I hope the best for you!
💃
I had the best time! WHOO! We had an amazing lesson on Captain Moroni and Helaman and the 2000 Stripling Warriors. OMGOSH! I am so into the spirit right now!
I was like...not going to go, ya know. I was going to stay home and do my homework...cuz it's important. And I'm sitting there and I'm doing my studying and I suddenly had this strong feeling, "go to Insititute" and I was like...but but...and I had it even stronger...so I called up a girl that lives near me and asked what time it started.
I go and there was like...30 people there! There wasn't even 30 people there before Katrina and now we have a large group! And everyone was there with 5 minutes to spare...when we are normally always 15 minutes late. It was awesome!
I think I know why I was supposed to go, but I don't want to jinx myself. There was someone there that wasn't supposed to be there because he'd moved to Houston. He happened to be in town for the day and decided to go to Institute. The first time I had met this guy I instantly felt that he was the man I was going to marry, but I forced him too much to be more than friends when he didn't want to be at that time...and he backed away...a lot. So I let it go and am going on with my life. Well, he happens to be in town this one day and happens to decide to go to Institute...and I was inspired to go to Institute...and there you go. Maybe it was just coincidence? I'm not going to make a big deal about it...just making an observation. I was more into the lesson than him anyways, but I still thought it was very strange.
I was kicking butt man...I was answering all the questions (correctly I might add) and reading from the scriptures and volunteering. I haven't been like that in years! I'm so happy right now I could burst...or scream from the rooftops! Yet again the Lord has proven Himself to me. I received the knowledge through the spirit that I had to make some changes...and when I did that I would find the happiness I had prayed for all of my life...and it's coming true! Heavenly Father rox my sox!
BOO-YAH! 😂
