WE also belive in a loving God. He sent us here so we could become like him, and be happy forever, by proving we will follow him. "Men are that they might have joy"

Becuase "Wickedness never was happiness" we follow Gods comandments, and that provieds a way for us to recive joy and blessings from God. I'm sure that people here will tell you that they personally have lived both ways and the gospel truely does bring more happiness.

That is also why God sent us his beloved son, because he is the perfect way to God and happiness. He died that we can lived and be fogiven of all our sins, but if, and only if, we do our best to follow his example and teachings.

I know personally that these things are true, I have prayed and recived the answer in my heart. It is from these, feelings that I know the things I believe where sent by God.

Our leader themselves teach us to pray in ernest to know if the things they tell us are true. They say we should not follow them simply because thats what our parents say. They really want us to know.

"Nah.. I am just ahead of you all in Christianity. People from the old days analysed the bible and came out with all kind of speculative rules wich make no sense.
God will never drown a whole species again just because they are so wicked. Our God is a loving and forgiving God and the reason to why he has stopped interfering with our lives is because he lets our souls learn."
-Overlord

Sorry, I don't know how to do that nifty quoting thing on forums, never really cared too... so all bare with me!!!

Anyways, you say you're ahead of us in christianity, but yet you say God does not mingle in our lives?? Yet He sends us His Holy Ghost that we may know of Him. That we may have consience to keep us from doing wrong. Yes, alot of people do not pay attention to that Spirit that dwells in the righteous, and they face their punishments.
The punishments in the bible have been taken wrong many times. But so have the blessings, and commandments. People tend to accept things that they think will make it easier to be saved. They accept the small nucluear bomb over the big water bomb, even though they could have prevented coming across the bomb in all theory. God has never stopped interferring in our lives and He never will, because He would not be God then. If He did cease to interferre with our lives, then the blessing we recieve for doing good works, would never have been, nor be. He blessed those who are righteous, and he punishes those who are wicked. God is just, and if He did not punish us, He would not be just, making Him not a just God, which if He was not a just God, He would not be God at all.
I find yourself wrong that you're ahead of us. I do not mean to offend you, or argue with you. I just don't not agree with you one bit, and your point of views are completely non-Christ like. Christ knows God, and knows He is a just God. For Christ is our Savior and is a just God. I hope you will re-pray about these things, and have a contrite heart and a broken spirit, and I know God, being the just God He is, will make it known unto you.

And yes, Mike, we have shared that past two branch presidents. Both are cool. Though the first one has upsetted me after he left the branch, and you know some of those reasons. He could of been a better man after leaving, but thats okay I forgive him.

RamZ, just click the quote button, under the post of what you would like to Quote

i think the post where i said i did not know how to do quotes... well ended this forum... ahh, oh well...

so who all has met an apostle??

well i havent met them, but i have been in the room with many, including Gordan B. Hinckley

Well, I got to meet one. Shook his hand even, and it was awesome!!! The spirit was truly there, and great!!!!

Hi all...I'm back.

Sorry. I started school and I things are getting a little more difficult going into week 2. Plus I came down with the flu...which is always fun. and I've had to work all week too.

So yeah...you guys covered the whole Overlord thing....so yeah.

I spent most of my life avoiding my Branch President because he was my Pawpaw (grandfather). My Pawpaw never really liked me much...he always held a grudge against me...dunno why. So I refused to talk to him as my Branch President. I know it's a confidential/spiritual thing, but I know that man...and he would still use anything I said against me. He was just like that. So I'm VERY grateful to have a Bishop I can finally talk to.

And I want to say...I really miss going to church. I have a deep feeling of urgency to go back. My Aunt has had it too. She's been inactive for about 8 years. Now she's active again, but I'm still having a hard time going. All of the talk in this forum has made me want to know more. Or to just remember what I have forgotten. You guys rock.

I'm so glad your back!
We missed you!
Sorry it's been a tough week. I hate those, but I guess we have to have bad ones to Appreciate the good ones.... that's why we're here.

Some times I feel overwhelmed with highshool and few extra carriculars, I can't imagine having to balance Collage, and a job every day. I salute you for being in one piece still! My prayers will be with you.

I'm glad we could help you feel that desire to go, you seem like a great person that just needed a little push. (I don't mean to act self righteous, I really am just happy...)

Thats really interesting that both you and your aunt feel that, wierd how that is huh? But it's nice to feel like you have the spirit working in your life when you do feel such promptings. There really are cool things happening now,a lot of things coming true I mean, and cool but scary things to come. Who knows when though.

BTW, did you guys hear that Pres. Hinkley had to have some cancer treatment in the form of sergery? That was yesterday. It makes you think..... 😕

yep i heard being at BYU does that 2 u

actually what i said is my own point of view that i have found from the bible, and if they have never heard of God or had the opportunity to be baptized, is a diffent case, i was referring to people who directly reject God, and his gospel, they will be punished, and the reason God will never drown everybody again for being wicked, is because he will not risk the lives of those that are righteous to kill the wicked, the wicked will be punished when there time comes, stop thinking of Biblical punishments, God has laws, and if you break a law, knowingly, and do not repent for it, you will be punished
Do you honestly believe that people who just happened to have not heard about God or were just too young for it do not get punished while others do?
Then I guess the teachings of God and the bible are more like a curse.

I'd rather live in a tribe to have never known about God than to know about the threat that is God and his punishment. Seriously, you all make God out to be like some kind of demon!

Just read your last words: "God doesn't kill all the wicked because innocent bystanders may be sacrificed."
His favortism (like Noah's family) and his threatening don't do much good for him. But luckily there is a possibility that God just wants us to learn these days. Everything indicates this but he still wants to kill everybody to get revenge for ignoring some rules? That's laughable!

Find a reason that we should hate our parents and abuse our children...find a reason that we should drink and smoke and put harmful drugs into our bodies. Tell us how we should not give 10% of our income to a church that will ALWAYS help us out when we are in the most dire need of it. Tell us how we should go out into the world and have random sex with anyone we choose and wind up with STD's and unwanted pregnancies or...as has happened to myself and many of my close female friends...tell us the joys of rape. Tell us why we should allow the world to tear us down until there is no hope left in our hearts? Please...tell me. Convince me of the wonders of the temporal world! Tell me how my Lord will save me when His Holy Spirit cannot dwell in any unclean thing? Tell me how the world will save my soul more so than this "filthy and lying" Mormon religion that has never done harm to you or anyone! TELL ME!

These horrible things Kella mentioned are the things God helps prevent with his "evil" commandments. You obviously don't understand the joy you can have from following these things, and the things you can avoid.

Tell me how rules are stupid and hurt everyone. Rules like those in the U.S. constitution. I don't buy it.

So, like Kella mentioned, the commandments are a blessing. They save us from having to be stuck on our mistakes because with God's word, we know that what's past can be past when we repent.

Now, my life won't be perfect, but I can tell you it will be a heak of a lot better than it would be if I lived to "eat drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die".

God sent us here to save us, and make his followers happy. he does not condem us, we condem ourselves.

And besides, are you saying wrongs aren't wrong, and the good will go on without justice forever, because if that is the case, we might as well not be good.

If you think that, I feel bad for you.

Yes i do, if, and only if, they were given the opportunity to hear God's word, and would have accepted it fully, they would not be punished, God's word and the Bibles is only a curse, if you dont live it, that is all you have to do to change it to a blessing is just to live it, it is that simple. i think you need to read the Bible, with full intent to understand all of its deepest meanings, and the true meaning, underneath all that has been changed, and deleted.

For those that do not hear of God's word in this life time, but are of age they shall be granted a second chance in the Spirit World. God is a very merciful God, but He also is a just God also. Overlord, I think you have a fear of dying, and then being punished, so you come up with your own beliefs that you think will save you. But in the end, if you do not repent, you will find your fear coming true. Sad, that a fear rules over you... The commandments are not to over rule us, but to guide us back to our Heavenly Father. Anyways, what is the point in coming to this forum for you, Overlord? Is it so you can upset up, or possibly even anger us? Or is it to your own desire to learn? It cannot be of anything else... And I agree with RAB, read the bible with true intent... read it with a broken heart and a contrite spirit and the Lord shall bless you with it's understandings. Until then, do not say you understand it, and try to teach it to those that DO understand it. Please, read it once more, and humber yourself before your God....

so i found this forum and i heard it was bashing mormons so i figured i would join...sounded like fun

Do mormons really believe God was a man in another planet and became a god? And that through religion people can become gods?

I read this on a site which has an odd name so I don't remember it. So, is it true?

the Latter day saint religon or mormon as it is unformally called is based upon the fact that the true gospel was lost after all the apostles were killed off in the new testament time. It was it the 1800's that joesph smith a boy was wondering what the true church was so he went to a grove of trees where he prayed...a darkness fell upon him which was satan trying to stop him from praying to god becuz he kne the fact that joseph was going to restore the gospel. Well when joesph was about to give up on holding on to life. a pillar of light like unto the sun came down and he saw two personages descending from heaven and they told joesph that none of the churchs on the earth were completely true. so he went home and pondered this. when that night he was visited by an angel which said that later on he would be to recieve the plates of nephi and lehi...and these "rocks'' are the basis of the mormon religon.
