Whoever said the church hated him? The church hates nobody. There are guidelines that God has set forth for members of the church. These should be your standards, and if you cannot accept them, then you do not accept the guidelines God has set. You commit a huge sin, and do not repent of it, then of course you'll be punished. No unclean thing can be in the presence of God. Being gay would make you unclean, so you cannot be in the presence of God. Being gay goes against the teachings, the guidelines, and against the commandments so the church has to keep it's good name, and let others know that gay practices are not within our church. I hope you can understand this. The church did not, nor did God forsake the people who are gay, they forsake the church, and God. Your choice, not the churchs. So, please do not say our church hates people that do not meet the guidelines or standards. We do not accept them as worthy members, but we do not hate them. The church loves them, and strives much to have them return unto the fold. We cry repentance, not damn others to hell.Anyways, who's all happy? I am!!!
"We do not intend to admit to our campus any homosexuals. If any of you have this tendency and have not completely abandoned it, may I suggest that you leave the university immediately after this assembly.... We do not want others on this campus to be contaminated by your presence." Ernest Wilkinson, president of Brigham Young University.
"Homosexuality Is Sin: Next to the crime of murder comes the sin of sexual impurity." Excerpt from a 2002 Mormon pamphlet.

I'm not saying all mormons don't accpet homosexuals, I'm sure many do and I'm sure there are many open, nice and intelligent mormons out there, I'm not bashing your religion, I'm really not but the "official" sentiment from mormons to gays is completely close-minded and unacceptable in my book.
