Whoever said the church hated him? The church hates nobody. There are guidelines that God has set forth for members of the church. These should be your standards, and if you cannot accept them, then you do not accept the guidelines God has set. You commit a huge sin, and do not repent of it, then of course you'll be punished. No unclean thing can be in the presence of God. Being gay would make you unclean, so you cannot be in the presence of God. Being gay goes against the teachings, the guidelines, and against the commandments so the church has to keep it's good name, and let others know that gay practices are not within our church. I hope you can understand this. The church did not, nor did God forsake the people who are gay, they forsake the church, and God. Your choice, not the churchs. So, please do not say our church hates people that do not meet the guidelines or standards. We do not accept them as worthy members, but we do not hate them. The church loves them, and strives much to have them return unto the fold. We cry repentance, not damn others to hell.

Anyways, who's all happy? I am!!!

"We do not intend to admit to our campus any homosexuals. If any of you have this tendency and have not completely abandoned it, may I suggest that you leave the university immediately after this assembly.... We do not want others on this campus to be contaminated by your presence." Ernest Wilkinson, president of Brigham Young University.

"Homosexuality Is Sin: Next to the crime of murder comes the sin of sexual impurity." Excerpt from a 2002 Mormon pamphlet.

I'm not saying all mormons don't accpet homosexuals, I'm sure many do and I'm sure there are many open, nice and intelligent mormons out there, I'm not bashing your religion, I'm really not but the "official" sentiment from mormons to gays is completely close-minded and unacceptable in my book.

Close minded? No, we're not close minded to it. I cannot see how anybody can think gays are non-sinners. God gave us the commandment to multiply, and being gay you cannot do that. So, therefore you are breaking another very important commandment from God. There is nothing right with homosexuality, never has been and never will be. People who are not willing to understand it as being a sin are closed minded. Those are the people who think they can make a church, and say Christ is the head of it. Who made that church again? The people, not Christ.

Leviticus 18:22
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Deuteronomy 23:17
There shall be no whore of the daughter of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

Romans 1:25-32
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of a woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and recieving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness: full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Who knowing the judgement of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Those scriptures are all from the Bible, and maybe you'll be more willing to understand homosexuality has stood, and will always stand as an abomination before God. Christ does not accept it in His church, for such abominations cannot be in the presence of God for they remain unclean. I hope and pray you will gain a more full understanding of things.

YAY!!! Everybody is back. Hi'ya all!!!

Did Jesus ever say anything about homosexuality being a sin? Or **** Joseph Smith? I know Jesus didn't but now I'm curious, did Mr. Smith??

So if you believe that piece of utter shit then I guess you also believe in this:
"I saw that the people were marrying foreigners. Their children were even learning foreign languages. I called down curses on them. I struck them and tore the hair out of their heads and made them swear by god, 'you will not marry foreigners.'" Neh. 13:23 "So I purged them of everything foreign. I drew up regulations defining everyone's duty. Remember me, oh god, for my happiness." Neh. 13:30

and in

"You must drive all the natives of the land before you. If you do not drive the natives of the country before you then those who remain will become disgusting to your eyes and a thorn in your side. They will harass you in the land where you live, and I will deal with you as I meant to deal with them." Num. 33:51 "Devour the nations the lord your god delivers over to you. Show them no pity."

and in

"Slaves you may possess, but make sure they are foreigners. You may also make slaves of the natives who dwell among you and from their children who are born and reared in your land. You may own them as chattels and leave them to your sons as their heriditary property, making them slaves forever. But you should not lord it over your own countryman, your own kinsmen." Lev. 25:44

and even

"Mere words will not keep a slave in order. He may understand, but he will not respond. Pamper a slave and he will be ungrateful. A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of a fool." Proverbs "When a man beats a slave so hard that he dies in a day or two, he shall not be punished, for the slave is his property." Ex. 21:20

I'm like looking in my Bible, which is the King James Version, which is the most correct translation of the Bible in this day, and I see nowhere these words you are speaking. I look up the scripture, and the words are completely turned around. The Lord gave the commandments which I posted on homosexuality, which are given by Christ if you think about it. Joseph I am sure taught that homosexuality is a sin, only because it is. We use the King James version of the Bible, and the words you spoke are all twisted lies of the devil, put through man himself. So, next time use something more correct before bashing the commandments of the Lord.

Different translations but even still, do you think it's ok to buy slaves? I mean the bible says it's ok.

Those are a part of the commandments given in the laws before Christ that where omited when he fulfilled the law. That's the same reason we don't sacrafice animals.

And in case you didn't know, mormons were on the union side in the civil war, they faught for it. Before the war they were against slavery and excepted black people into thier comunities. (I think I've heard they excepted escaped or freed slaves also)

And thinking homosexuality (which is why they would ban practicing homos from a campus) is wrong is NOT close minded. Hating homosexuals IS.

Okay...I've never heard Joseph Smith referred to as Mr. Smith. It amuses me. I just picture Agent Smith when I hear that...I dunno why. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And as far as the utter piece.... out of respect for us... at least in this thread...could you refrain from using that kind of slang? There is no reason to use such harsh words.

I believe that banning people who are homosexual from BYU is not wrong. Being homosexual means that you are practicing. Having the thoughts...well...let me rephrase. Having the concerns that you are feeling a certain way towards someone of the same sex in the LDS church is not a sin. If you are concerned that it will affect you, typically you will see your Bishop and discuss it. There are counselling sessions provided by the church to help you to deal with these feelings.

If your love for the church is strong and you choose to ignore the feelings and remain worthy in the church, then you have given up your homosexual desires....therefore you are not considered homosexual. If you choose to persue the fall of the flesh rather than the glory of the spirit then perhaps the LDS faith is not for you.

Our church will not bend it's laws to the weaknesses of the mortal world. If you call it closed minded...so be it. I see it as strength. If more situations held their ground...perhaps the world would be a better place. For example...our government. We are trying to liberate the country to the point that we are only enslaving it.

No, we do not believe in slavery. That's just ridiculous to think so. We are a church that promotes freedom (believe it or not) and love and eternal happiness. The very thought of the LDS having anything to do with slaves or the mistreatment of them is ludicrous.

Different translations, yes, but one is more correct than the other. The one you are using is mis-translated, making it completely wrong. It's like I tell one person something, they tell somebody else the exact way I told them. The third person forgets something, so he/she adds something. By the time it's been passed down it's so out of truth, it's pathetic. King James version is the most correct version of the Bible due to the fact it's basically a direct translation. And to answer your question, it is not okay to have slaves, but ask me. Personally I think it would be okay, if you do the right thing and let them free after you purchased them. Hmm, now wouldn't that be different than owning a slave? I mean you buy them, let them go, and wow you have no slaves. But that is my personal opinion on "buying" slaves. To own, or keep a slave... no, it is morally wrong, and a sin before God. And please, refrain yourself from using such a language please. You have so far done well on the other requests of us, so we would also appreciate it if you would do this also. Thank you, talk to you people later!!! (in a figure of speaking)
