Kella
I hit an armadillo, hard.
I had a good day yesterday (Sunday).
I was sitting out of Sunday School filling out my tithing slip and I went and handed it to Miguel. I saw a stack of really old post cards and my friend Napo (Napoleon) pulled them out and we started looking at them. It was post cards of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It showed their temple and their tabernacle...etc. It was totally freaky. I've never seen anything like it.
And they have this huge cross on the outside of their temple. And everything they do is for Peace rather than Christ or God. It's not bad that they believe in peace, but it's a mural of this play-dough looking guy with a lion and a lamb that they worship and pray to I guess. I have no clue. It would be interesting to get one of them on here and explain what they believe. Cuz now I'm curious...because what they believe and what the LDS believe... seem like two completely seperate animals.
I can't even explain it, but I'm going to try. When I saw their temple (which is completely open to the public) I thought of two things immediately. One, Candyland...and two, space ship. Props to the architecht...it is a rather neato looking building, but also kinda makes you think...are they trying to tune into the mother ship?
Anyways... when I was out of Sunday School I noticed the missionaries in a classroom with these two non-member guys. I know they were non-members because of the clothes they had on at church...or perhaps they just weren't active members...I didn't know at that point. I asked Miguel if that was the Gospel Essentials class and he said it was. So I went in and they all looked at me kind of confused and I just smiled and sat down.
The lesson was basically about the First Article of Faith. Once they learned that I was a lifelong member of the church they started asking me all of the really spiritual questions. Somehow I was really tuned into the class despite the fact that I was sleepy. I gave some really good responses. The class totally rocked. I can't wait for next week. Coming on here has really strengthened me and helped to prepare me to share what I believe with others. I honestly feel that if I didn't have this thread that I wouldn't have been able to bare my testimony to those guys and would have lost an opportunity for someone to learn about the church. The missionaries are great, but they teach the basic meat and potatoes...the members and their testimonies kind of describe the way the meat and potatoes taste and how amazing it is. I dunno. Dumb comparison...sorry.
Oh...and for the past couple of months I keep saying that I want to meet a Tongan guy and now we have two missionaries in our area that are Tongan. One is in Singles Ward...and they are cousins. I really don't know how to spell their names though, but I'll learn...I swear I will.
So yeah...I'm done rambling. π
