"Because they seek no deals with you, Drakkon. Emperor Palpatine seeks the eradication of your people, or at least break them. Lanzar City is his primary target, and we doubt he will leave it standing."

"That remains to be seen. And what alternative can you offer, without strength?"

"As I have said, tactics and equipment that will be of great use to you in halting the Imperial march, as well as our own services as combatants. All of us are magnificent fighters with the exception of the Duchess of Naboo and myself, and even we are not unable to fight.

"We are quite sure of what their objective will be and how they will achieve it."

Kai steps up, "As stated by Galahad, we have strengths. It may not be numbers, but it is enough to stop the Imperials here. We are your reinforcements for this coming battle, and we will be more valuable than an army in the coming battle." Kai steps back into the group and awaits a response.

(Guys, don't forget. We are not planning to stop the imperials. Nor are we planning to. We'll lose face with him if he catches us in tat falsehood. i may be wrong but perhaps we should make it clear from the beginning that we can only delay the inevitable if no agreement is reached with the Senators. my two bits.)

"Are you saying that your small band is greater in stature and power than any army of Hunters I put into the defence of this city, and so you can deliver me victory?"

I agree with Jazz, no point in boasting about goals which we can obtain.

"I am not, unfortunately," Galahad says. "That would be the best-case scenario. We are simply offering help in the battle to come. The Empire won't stop if you ask for a ceasefire or mercy, not that you would, but they intend to eliminate your people. Siding with them is not a choice."

"So you say, but then you would. And so I ask again- what is the alternative you offer?"

"Not getting totally eradicated, for one..." Scarlet says under her breath.

"What do you mean by that?"

"The Imperials are a mighty force, your Lordship. Standing directly against them now would be...a last stand, if you will. But we can stall them long enough for you and your people to leave, get to another city or village or rendezvous point. If you survive this upcoming battle, you will be able to unite your people against the Imperials, and they will have to come running after you, and spread their forces thin."

"But if you die here...your people will stand little chance against the invasion force."

"Do any other cities on Lanzar have shield generators?"

OOC: there are no other cities.

There aren't? Wow, I'm not paying attention... *slaps own hand*

Guys, this is going to shit.
Stop. Now.
OK why the hell ARE we here? Its a good question, Are we assuming that we can even put up a resistance? We need to stop and think about this.

Indeed, there is only one city that counts, and it is this one. They take it, it's over.

"If I wanted to run and hide," says Drakkon, "why would I wait now? Why not just run now? I've had mych time for these things. Why would I fight a little, and then run? Why would I rely on others to fight and die for me, and then run?"

He leans foorwards more in his throne, right hand absent-mindedly stroking his whip.

"What is it you can actually DO?"

"We can fight. We can help you and your people. If you believe you can take the Imperials in war, fine. Good luck to you. But that is not the case. If you want your stand to matter, then let us help you. We have skills and ties that others cannot bring. If we use these, your sacrifice will not go to waste".

"Why not?"

"Why not?"

Damn. Need some help here.

(Actually, that helped!)

"Because your sacrifice would be in the name of the Rebellion, rather than the miscellaneous, unruly barbarian that the Empire would label you and your people as. After the Imperial victory over the Osokans, you would be an insignificant failure in the eye of the Galaxy, nothing more than a swine bred for the purpose of being turned into the Emperor's dinner.

"But, if you joined the Rebellion...your name would go down in history. You would become a martyr, should you die, and several other worlds would join our cause, and rise up against the Empire to avenge you and your people."
